Default Couple of Esc Cossie Sensor questions

What thread is the water temp sensor? Does the ECU use it at all? or does it only show how warm the water is in the binical dash?

Oil switch, simular questions, thread, Does the ECU use it? or does it only show the oil pressure in the banana pod binical? does the same switch also do the low oil lamp in the dash binical?

Cheers

The ECU uses the blue one at the back of the engine, not the one in the gauge, so you can use this .

As to the oil pressure, yes this is shared with the dash light, no it isn't used by the ECU, so if you want the dash light to display, you need a T-piece to retain both .

The water temp in the block in place of the original one, the oil pressure in a T-piece with the oil pressure switch / light, the oil temp in the sump, the fuel pressure in the fuel rail, the speedo on a bracket connected to the ABS sensor bolt so that it counts the bolts on the bell. The fuel gauge connects direct to the existing plug as per destructions etc etc .

if you use a aeromotive fuel reg you can use the hole in the front for a sender, the water sender in head is 1/8 NPT, IRC so is the spare port on the oil pressure sender...???

Not had the most suscessful day with the stack sensors

The new water temp sensor wouldn't fit in the old sensors position as it much wider so I'm going to have to get one of these once i work out the right hose to cut and get the id

I need a Oil pressure sensor and a Oil temp sensor so was going to use one of these:-

However made a bracket for the Speed sensor today that worked out better then i thought

As for the fuel pressure I was thinking of getting Harvey to silver solder the boss onto the standard rail

So for the speedo I need to measure my tyre with a tailors tape and enter that in to the stack along with the number of pulses (being 12 bolts..) and thats it?

Good idea on the thermostat housing

Mike,

That will ONLY show the temperature of the water going to the rad
when the thermostat is open.

Dont forget, the thermostat doesnt stay open all the time.

Also, if the thermostat fails shut, you wont know about it till the head
gasket fails.

Paul Ripley,

You will have the same problem putting a sensor in the rad hose.

Also, that is the RETURN hose and the water will be cooler than the engine

Paul,

Never had to do this myself so I dont have an alternative thats proven.

The head is THE best place and will always show the correct temperature.

How about the oil cooler water hose that comes from the ECU's water temp sensor housing if you can get an adapter small enough?

Dave which bit do you mean?

Paul,

I suppose any hose that has water coming OUT of the head as near as possible
such as the pipe going to the oil cooler or the turbo cooling
could be used.

One back for Mike R I guess...

Simon,
I monitor it from EVERY position, as I have Pectel monitor for head, Stack for incoming water and Defi for out-going water.

I can then see how efficent my cooling system is or when it is struggling.

Paul,
As you have the Pectel monitor, you can put it where you like - I forgot to mention that where I have put my Stack sensor will give a low reading as that is after the radiator. For a temp as close to the Pectel as possible, it needs to go where you can see the Defi one is .

As you have the Pectel, you can chose where-ever you want to measure the temp from .

The STACK fluid sensors are 1/8 NPT.
