Default More torque....????

i know that bhp is worked out by measuring the pull on the rollers/dyno and revs...but how do u get a higher torque engine...mine is 420bhp/370ftlbs....how do u produce more than ur bhp figure....cheers Pete

You can't because of the 5252rpm thing isn't it?

On a similar note,in this months PPC.Dave reckons ATW (at the wheels) is rubbish, but gives no reason for it being so.

Any thoughts on ATW people?

But wouldn't that just offset it?

I thought torque was a product of boost, summant to do with PCP's?

I'm probably wrong.

easiest thing is more BOOOOSST!!!!!! or at least a huge boost spike to give you an almighty shove

how much boost do you run?

mine made 390lb/ft with a spike of 2.1bar....boost dropped quickly after though....

what would ATW figures be rubbish?
as these are the figures actually produced and not some calculation done by the rolling road?

about 2.5 bar spike ought to bring the torque RIGHT up in the mid range!

the easiest thing to do,without changing spec is to have a remap, but ask for a large'ish boost spike that can maybe be held for a little while, but then tailing it slowly as the revs build,so the injectors don't get maxed too much......i presume you are on greys?

greys,remap,big spike = big torque!

there is a calculation;
Power [bhp] = Torque [lb-ft] x Speed [1/min] / 5252

i'd say your pretty much at the limit of your spec then lol.....you could squeeze more out by having the above 'adjustments'

i'm thinking about organising another RR day actually.....i've found a rollers which i beleive to be very good, certainly the best and most accurate i've been on to date (they seem accurate from the readings i and a few others got)

long way for you to come though, but you never seemed happy with the well lane RR

wasn't not happy....but it didn't make full boost on the rollers and the power graph/info was shite....and on my spec im not suppose to have this much power...even though standard cars made standard power that day aswell.....how far is ur RR

What sort of boost pressure do they run? And how does that compare to say an average 500 bhp cossie?

uncomparable to a 500bhp cossie really, well most 500bhp cossies that is..WRC cars run huge boost through relatively small turbos (they have restricters fitted which ulitimately limits BHP)

500bhp cossies are usually Low Comp with large Turbos running maybe 2.5bar held

not entirely sure what boost WRC cars run,but i guess it's pretty high (40+psi) also they are much higher comp

Western performance have a Dyno Dynamic RR, I have just run on Surrey RR one with a Escort Cos making 394hp and 390ftlb at the wheels which worked out with the Subaru trans losses 504hp and 490ftlb at the fly which is very close to what these engines make on the engine dyno
