I've been for the last 4/5 years and it is the best motorsport day of the year in my opinion, I have never had Grandstand tickets as you can get a good view from the side of the hill anyway, loads to see, the supercar paddock can get really busy so best to start there, personally although I love rallying the rally stage is a bit of a non event and a bugger of a walk in the hot sun too , just generally mooch around and you will see so much, deffo take a camera and some food as it's a long walk to the carpark, keep your eyes out for famous people too, apart from all the F1 stars etc, I have seen Clarkson and JK loads of times-go on the Sunday as it's when the drivers really show off on the hill

Cheers man - sounds like sound advice I wont bother with grandstand tickets then, that should be a little saving!

Its a fair drive down from up here !

Have been wanting to go for years and finally persuaded the missus!

You wont be dissapointed-watch the skies too as they usually get a Jumbo to do a low fly pass-so slow it looks like it will stall and crash-amazing

Im looking forward to seeing the N/A 60s F1 cars - they will sound the balls

Jimbo sounds scary!

Euan - you should go - just go on the site and buy tickets.....then you will have to go and work the rest out!!!

i nearly managed to get three days at FOS as part of our honeymoon last year! she actually agreed, but like a c#ck i'd got my dates wrong

still went, sunday is the best day, rally stage IS worthwhile

i'm too much of a coward to try the bowler wildcat rides, but my mate had a go. he was a bit wobbly after!

i've been a couple of times, probably wouldn't go again as part of a big group, best year i had was when i got split up from my two mates (one had a bad foot) and i could just see what i wanted to see.

get to the pits, being about 3ft away from an 80's F1 ferrari as they start it up and warm it through before its run up the hill will stay with me forever! and last year i stood taking pics as about 15 NASCARS from different eras went by...

one of the best motorsport events in the world i reckon. as the others say, no need to get a grandstand ticket. you can get closer trackside if you're early enough.

tips:

take a big umbrella for sun/rain. take a picnic. and go by bike so that you don't get stuck in traffic
