Default DVLA and worrying situation.

I had a leter from the DVLA this morning asking for he VIN number of my car as they had a query on it. So I get the number, phone them up and give it to them and ask what the query is, to be told that someone else has applied for the logbook on my car and they're just trying to determine whether its a case of other person qouting wrong reg etc. One thing bothers me about this, as the bloke said all the other details on the request were basically the same, as far as I'm aware there is only the one K reg Esc RS Turbo, and therefore for someone to get the reg mixed up would be unlikely.

matter been cleared up now, well I hope so anyway. They had an old document come thru the post, dated from before I got the car, and, if all is well they expect a reply from the other party to say its been a mistake. If, on the other hand its not a mistake, both cars will have to be inspected, although as I explained to DVLA I wasn't aware of another one, and they agreed after checking the records there isn't, which is still worrying as it looks like someone may be trying to pull a fast one.

I don't have a grteat deal of knowledge of Escort Cosworths but I did attend a Ford Ride & Drive for the launch and there were at least a dozen of them there and it must have been around K reg time because the Mk1 Mondeo had just launched too.
