If there good for 300 then that will be brilliant I have 250-280 that I would like from the engine so if I can do that then I'm well away.

The engine should hopefully hit area 6 early feb to have the necassry machine work done. I was debating getting the rods shot peened. Anyone got any views on this?

thanks

I was/am looking for some 16inch mondy wheels but at the mo the money is going on the engine. Its that reason I dont want to break it to find out what horse power the rods can take

Turboss on here with the 430bhp ZVH told me he ran a previous engine at 330+ bhp on standard non shot peened rods! Make of that what you will

I've heard a 'safe' power level to run up to on standard rods is 280hp to expect any longevity from the engine...

But 300hp sounds a good general limit

if youre not going for the big boost route why not just buy a set of eagle rods and JE pistons giving a CR of 9.0-1 and use a slightly thicker head gasket, bring the CR down to mid to high 8's then have it nice n responsive off boost aswell as safe/reliable/strong. all for around £400 quid

The compression ratio is 7.4:1 on the arias pistons. I I can run them at 1 bar then thats fine.

I still need to spec the injectors up but have everything else

get them on ebay

you'd need to have a very good condition bore or new block to use them as the pistons are 85mm diameter, very very slightly overbore.
