Is there a tried and tested setup?
Will the hydraulic followers cope with this higher output?

yeah,as i was typing i read his post in a few different ways
i'd guess it won't need to be mega high revving for that power,so hydraulic should be fine....
there are a few ZT owners on here,so hopefully they'll post up.....oh and just to clarify, you ARE turbocharging this 2l zetec ??

It's for a MK1 Cortina, being used as a "weekend/trackday" car.
And it will probably have a turbocharger. Could also be a kompressor but not sure about the bhp output then. I do not want a car with massive lag..

I have the complete head off my old engine (that did 178.8mph proven) for sale if someone makes me a reasonable offer, it will easily flow and do the job for 450bhp provided the rest of the spec of the engine is right. It will rev it's tits off, flow exceptionally well, complete with custom valve train + if you wanted solid lifters + new cams they can also be provided.
Fudge, provided the rest of the stuff is good, you'll still be able to rev her to 7500rpm+ provided head flow is good, anything above that is OTT saying that I would recommend solid lifters for anything over 7200rpm.

Cheers Sunny, im gonna stick with 7200 hard limit, as i wont really need to rev it too high
im using a big valve and ported head, not sure how much has been taken from the ports tho, looks very light if anything.
i also had piper do me a custom grind set of cams to a BD10 spec, so the engine will be capable of more, but as i said, i only have a T35, but its got a 247 maram shaft lol, so will be using aggrassive ALS too lol

Fudge - Thats sensable, alot of people set their rev limit sky high for no reason then wonder why it doesnt rev very well at 8500rpm LOL. I needed mine to be high as my old engines as they made peak power very late in the rev range (obviously for top speed) and also I needed to fall in the right powerband when changing up the gears.
Mark my words the ALS is soo addictive around town!

I really miss my T34 ZT engine, it was quality.

The latest spec t34 was not put on the dyno as it was development after development and then I changed to the ext wastegate GT30 route however it was definately fair enough to say around the 400bhp mark on full boost. After my latest cyliner head went on and we went Autronic fully mapped up it killed all the gearboxes when boost was turned up and span 4th gear with serious attitude in the dry. Only once did it get timed at Bruningthorpe however on the day I had to pop round Mark's place in the morning and he had to take some ignition out and turn the boost down as the timing belt jumped hence slightly bending the valves. Eitherway I limped the car there and ran her on 14psi and it still done a 13.6 @ 117mph and 0-100 in 10.9 secs on £35 Khumo tyres (this was also the first time ever I had been timed hence lack of techneque).
