i'm pretty sure a dry cell in a battery can cause the alternator to kick out too much juice (but i may be wrong). Could be worth getting another battery to stick on to see if its still doing it??

Should'nt it only be around 14volts with every thing turn on ie light fans ect ect But if the battery keep loing charge then its probly best to change it and see whot volts its running

Your battery could be shit because your alternator has cooked it!!! Usually a fooked battery will only provoke up to around 14.5v, not 16.

Alternators can overcharge, which then leads to your battery getting fried!

Take it to a garage or a decent spares shop to get it double checked if you're not sure... should be mid to high 13's really.

the internals of the alternator are obviously working well, but the regulator isnt controling the amount of charge being produced , this is probably what killed the battery in the first place...
