anyone using a bt voyager 2091 router and had any problems with it dropping connection? we had loads of problems before we got the laptop with intermittently dropping connection, though it started being more and more common, happening every 5-10 minutes or so, bt engineer told us it was the line registering a fault and capping the speed, which in turn made our connection practically stop.
Now we got a new laptop for christmas, and are connecting wirelessly using the 2091, and surprise surprise the connection has started dropping all the time, just discovered that one of our neighbours must have a home hub without a password, so were using their internet connection ( serves em right for not having it secure LOL ) and its not dropping.
What do you reckon the chances are of BT giving us a new router are? cos its obviously the router thats faulty and not the internet connection or it would happen on this connection as well surely?

It could be a line related issue mate. We had problems with ours when we first moved in. The actual phone was ok so BT said nah mate the line is fine,
Then by chance our calls were being chopped off and had crackle on the line. Turned out to be an earth fault in our underground cable.

Out of interest whats your line quality like??

TBH the phone line is crystal clear, and the internet connection was for the first 2mths of it being connected, had loads of problems with the connection dropping and ended up getting a 3mth refund of line rental as had such a carry on getting an engineer out. He reckoned the reason it did it was partly cos the pc was old and knackered and partly because the socket in the house was faulty. Sent a new engineer round and fitted a new socket and brand new line, but problem still didnt go.
