Default hid light kit problems

hi i seem to have a problem with my hid kit, they were excellent very bright when first fitted but they seem to get dimmer each time they are used to the point that now i would say my old halogen lights were better, is there a way of fixing this or is it knackered?

cheers les.

Is it a 'proper' £200+ kit or a £75 jobbie from Ebay? How long have you had them? They should at least have 12months waranty if from a reputable supplier?

The balasts are probably faulty.

If you cant get anything replaced by the person you bought them from give these guys a try. www.hids4u.co.uk I usually deal with a guy called ian (via email). he's really friendly and they will help you with replacement parts to fit what you've already got (you wont have to buy a complete kit again.)

Do these kits need to be professionally fitted or can you order the kit and fit it yourself

both going at the same time and same rate does seem a bit strange though, im going to check the input voltage tomorrow and see if wiring it direct from battery and/or a better earth connection helps.

Check the wiring! As a shite feed will not power the ballasts very well

avid-fan - Yes they can be used with twin headlights

going to do that today smit and use a relay if needed, also it looks as it hid4u wont supply parts for cheap kits anymore as they have had so many problems with them but instead they offer a £70 trade in.

was thinking though if the kit was so crap what would they want with them?

I have a set from hids4u, used them on my old focus, and were bloody brilliant. Put them over into my new shape mondeo, and after beefing up the fuses, they flicker about 10 times when switching them on. I did email some bloke from hids4u, but i found him pretty unhelpful!

I'm sure a direct feed from the battery should sort them out tho

I've fitted a hi/low H4 set to my saph and the H7 kit to 2 x mk2 mondeos all from hids4u and they've all been fine.

Had to fit higher rating fuses on the mondeos though as they would blow on startup (same as jungleistmassiv)

Mine also flicker too if I have them on while starting the engine. But at any other time they are fine.

At least a few peeps have had the kit I've ordered with no problems. Does come with a 3 year warranty too, and at the price you really can't complain.

Seems strange to me that hids4u will buy these 'cheap' kits back I must say, they can't be that bad.

lol i hope so, still a pita sending them back to hong kong etc

its definately the kit though i tested the voltage today with the engine running ive got a battery voltage of 14.7V and the voltage at the hid kit connection was 14.5V so no problem there i did try with a direct feed to the battery and direct earth but didnt make any difference.

also the guy on ebay has 100% feedback and lots of it so i thought i would be ok.

yep put a direct earth aswell but didnt make a difference, plus with them working spot on when first fitted i cant see the wiring being at fault.
