1/4 litre should be enough, but i would advise you to get half a litre so you know you wont run out.
like i did when i done my engine bay on my fez and had to rub it all down again

dont talk to me about spraying cossie engine bays
i sprayed my 4 fucking times,,,, 1st time it ran,,, second time it was fine BUT i decided to fill in the holes,,, 3rd time it was fine THENi closed the bonnet and it rained and the fucking bonnet vents let the rain drip on it (spraying on the side of the road)
4th time i got it MINT, FUCKING SMOOTH and got all new clips and recovered the loom ect
FOR SOME FUCKING TOSSER TO STEAL THE CUNTING CAR !!!!

faye i filled the holes in, spray fillered it, celulose putty aswell for the tiny weeny bits, then used 2 cans of spray each coat on the entire engine bay then hand polished it
remember i also sprayed it 4 times,,,,, i may have actually spent more that 100 quid thinking about it now

that bay cam up nice mate
i used a cheaper 2 pac paint for a spry gun to do mine, didnt even polish it after as it came out really well IMO
total cost with primer, hardner and 2pac thiners and some cheap thiners to clean gun out etc was prob about Ł45 plus i stone chipped the inner wings wheel side so with that prob Ł55
i dont have any before pics, but i got primed and finished

2 lites of paint on a engine bay i wouldnt even use that on a colour change in the bay
for the top half of the bay your prob need about 1/4 litre, and i think thats the smallest they sell anyhow, but i would get half a litre just so you got some spare.
if your gunna use spray cans, well, i guess i would get at least 6, maybe more cos the ones you dont use you might be able to take back.
dunno what halfords dimond white is like now but it used to come out like a off cream colour from halfords..
if you get spray cans made up dont get too many as they wont take them back
