intercoolers
Just looking at front mount intercoolers for my Golf and I've stumbled across some very cheap items from the States...
Has anyone got experience of using coolers from out there on any car?
I'm only asking as they seem to work out at least £400 cheaper than intercoolers for sale over here and I'm not prepared to pay nearly £900 for one...

There are taxes and duty to add onto that.
As a good guide take product price and shipping cost and then add 21% + £15 for the price all in on your door step.

Wes, have a look about mate for prices in the US (not necessarily via ebay). Also do you need the pipework etc as it will bump the shipping cost up. Mine worked out with delivery costs £148 all in. I didnt get taxed on it either!!

yeah I do need the pipework, the cooler on the Golf looks like it was an afterthought and thrown under the wing lol
to get a front mount to fit without going twin pass I'd need the pipework to re-route it a bit...

my mate has one of these intercoolers on his gtir, came with all brackets, bolts, samco copy's and shiney hard intercooler pipework, not bad for 220 notes delivered to his door
seems to work fine, he's having his Pulsar on the r/r this week if he can be squeezed in, will find out for sure then.

I have 1 for my golf mk1 £150 notes and it seems to be very well made. I think i might have problems fitting it though cause its 3" thick.
What mk golf is it cause i have a few mates with mk4's that hav big front mounts and think they might have a few lying about

The kits not great, the rubber hose joiners are sh-t, and the chrome is peeling on the boost pipes. But for that price you cant complain.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
There was a post on one of the golf forums about these intercoolers.
It its a mk4 golf it wont sit behind the bumper properly as there are variations in the u.s/u.k cars.
Il try and find the post.

Fiecos Dan its not been on long enough to see how the chrome fairs, i never fitted it either so cant comment on the rubber hose joiners etc, looking it it seems pretty good for the small sum of money it set him back.

but he only had it fitted for less than a month before the chrome started peeling.
The hoses joiners were too short, so he used some samco, Also the J clips werent the ones in your pic or ebay pic, and needed replaceing as were eating thro the hoses due to design.

If I could find a twin pass I'd only need to find a small bit of metal pipe to join them as I could use the originals as far as the inner wing....
Might have to do a bit more research into this
