IF and I mean IF you've been lucky and the engine's still running the followers are noisey due to lack of oil in them/engine so go get some a bit sharpish!

ps how did the sump plug drop out been upsetting anybody?

Assuming you are now testing with a tight sump plug and some oil. If it was air in the lifters they would shut up as soon as they got hot...

If you ran the car for anything over a min with no oil / oil pressure you are lucky its running!

ain upset no one lol, never checked it after the conversion, my friend drained the oil and i can only gues the bolt was put in hand tight, i swapped the sump onto the 2.0 and never checked it so my fault . i was testing it with oil but i cant keep it ticking over unless i rev it up?

Absolutely, definitely needs a new bottom end, or if you're handy with the spanners, a full rebuild. Ouch. Not a nice start to the new year.

best thing to do mate is rip the plugs out turn over by hand so its defo not catching the valves on the pistons disconnect the coil pack and turn the engine over as this will pump oil up into the lifters try this first fella also the plug for the i.c.v hasnt come off has it

NOT necessarily I know a few Ford models that when low on oil and while cornering a bit fast the oil light WILL come on!

it more than likely wont tick over because the valves are not working properly! try and keep the revs up to about 3 thousand for about 5-10 mins to let the oil get round and into the lifters!

If the engine has been out of the car, are u sure the oil pressure lead was put back on to the switch? If not its no wonder it never came on......
