Default i've been thinking today... the useful info thread!

lots of us know small bits on how to make our cars better without spending the earth, but hardly any of us like to give the information out freely, information that could help somebody out or make fixing their car cheaper. why shouldn't we though? to make a few bucks when somebody elses pride and joy goes tits up? i'm sure we've all been there, something has broken on your car, only a few people have the part you're looking for, or know how to do the job, but want to charge you the earth for it. know the feeling? here's your chance to give some information that may just help somebody out!

well... here's my contribution to the community, free of charge!

bug eyed scorpio's use a 20mm rear arb that is interchangeable with the sierra/sapphire. (2wd is 16mm, 4x4 is 18mm)

they also use 3.6 ratio 7 1/2" rear diffs in the 2.9 models, but without an LSD.

alot of rear diff breakages are just the planet gears getting smashed... these are only £10 each new from ford!

an escort cosworth centre console (back piece) is just a cut down 4x4 sapphire one.

can't think of any more for now... anybody else care to contribute some knowledge?

When you are welding the diff up on your mates drit car, DO NOT leave the tray of drained diff oil under the car, because as you weld the sparks will set fire to the oil, which makes your mate panic as his car is being licked by flames, and makes your mate who owns the workshop panic even more, and grab a CO2 fre extinguisher

if you space your wheels out and need longer wheel studs go to the local scrappy and get some of a 1 series rover metro they are exactly the same as cossie ones but 10mm longer

Default 2 for the FWD boys

I'm 99% sure that S2 RST calipers and Mondeo discs (sorry, can't remember the model) will bolt straight onto a Mk3 Fiesta with no problems...

And a fairly common brakes one: Cos 4WD calipers (spaced out with a washer) and Cos 2WD discs will bolt straight onto a Mk3/4 Escort.
