Default help needed

right my dad has one of them semi automatic type fiesta's
(where you can swith between manual and automatic)

problem is it will not start off the key

plenty life in battery, starter is fine (when it engages) just sometimes it will not start, other times its fine

the car is booked into fords but we cant start it to get it there cant tow it as its automatic

is there a way of starting by by-passing the ignition altogether (hot wire)
just so we can get it moving

thanks in advance

put the ignition on and bridge the starter over also check the black connecter inside the bottom coloum cover as the multplug for the ignition plays up with a bit of dirt hope this helps also when trying to start the car wiggle the gearstick in park or neutral and c if this helps while turning the key over

How far is it? Check the book, but if you go slowly for a short distance, towing is usually OK.

Can Ford come and get it? Or the AA/RAC/whatever?

sounds exactly the same problem as my m8s 03 plate fiesta, got it to frauds and charged him 350 quid to supply and fit a new gear selector motor. common problem on fiesta apparently(sp).
the car had only done 28k...
