There's loads! My advice would be to get a TDCi engined model as these are common rail, I have just bought an 03 125ps front wheel drive TDCi and its loads better than my previous 75ps Transit.

I used the prviousl 75ps van for towing a trailer and although very underpowered it towed well with no issues with it being fwd.

I have an ex police 04 plate damaged 100ps model if you want to repair one!!!

christ some of you lot

350 is rwd,,,, erm hats about my knowledge of em i can remember right now but ive had a few

fwd are not a issue,,,,,, they are all good vans tbh but very basic for comfort

they are britains longest selling van after all,,,,,, think about it people dont "rent a van",,,,,, the "rent a tranny"

as for being disapointed in a connect,,,,,mate i just negotiated getting our old connect back for our mail run for our driver rather than a transit as they are like driving car and handle the tits for a van

shame tyres dont last in em but he does give it a hard time

theres a vid of me driving a 85ps transit and filming the speedo doing 100 to 105,,,,,,, but that got me a written warning at work and think ill get worse on here

You can find all the sizes, towing weight etc.. here.

I would say go for the higher powered 2 litre duratorq FWD 100 or 125, if you are really looking for torque go for a lower powered 2.4 RWD. The reason I say this is because the high powered 2.4 are nothing but trouble.

In my opinion of having to fix the things, the front wheel drive vans break more. Especially with starter, water pump, power steering pump and gear change cable or remote issues.

saying that, i haven't done a water pump or pas pump for a while so maybe ford have that sorted. The starters need a shit shield as the are at the front of the engine and get all the weather as you drive along.

Imo the rear drivers are the better van for reliability. I have a 137ps model which is superb on the motor way and hills. Even when loaded up. I have found that the smaller engined vans are more thrash able though as the clutch is lighter and they rev up quicker.

The numbers on the side of the van doors are reference to the weight and power. T350 means its a 3.5 ton gross vehicle weight van. T240 is the smallest i think and the T425 is the biggest. The other number is the bhp output of the engine. T300 upwards are rear wheel drive and below are front.

I have just picked my brand new 56 plate (but not the new shape) transit up today from polar.

It's the 2.4 tdci duratorque with 135 ps... rwd. Its fooking mental (for a van). It's even got traction control

Had a 100 ps one before and was ok with a fair bit of weight in, but when rammed struggled on motorway inclines.

Wasn't sure (hence the "I think" afterwards).

You'll have that flashing away quite often if you drive it quite hard!! It's 137ps by the way (135bhp).
