Although to be fair, the longest distance i regularly visited a girl was 400 miles when i lived on the south coast yet dated a girl in belfast. Flew every weekend and even some week nights.
I met mine, while she was on her "year abroad" in London so flew there (I live in southern Germany) 3 times in half a year. Thing is I couldnt stay with the family she was working at so had to book a hotel every time...
Also once, she had a weekend off. She wanted to go to Cornwall but none of her mates would come with her. So I said: "I will" and actually drove over the next day. Did about 2000 miles in 5 days... Her mum still thinks I'm nuts...

The irish girl i was seeing it was always in hotels as she was from a strict catholic family and i was a protestant/cofe member of the armed forces. going round her house back then would be like playing with fire.
