3dr generall info required please
hi all, i've been toying with the idea for years now to get a 3dr instead of my saph. I really like the white ones but are these the most common ones?
Also if i just got a shell and used my 2wd saph as a donor car what bits will fit and what wont? cheers luke

For what it's worth and the hassle of it... You would be better off selling the saff and buying a 3dr... Ps whites the best colour....

Moonstone is THE BEST colour end of.
Most of the parts will fit, all the running gear, seats, dash, exhaust, brakes, fuel tank, etc
U looking for a genuine shell or just a normal 3dr shell?
Gary @ RSClassics is selling a nice black 3dr shell that you can use

quality. So what bits from my saph wont fit a 3dr then?? There must be some.
Buying one would be a lot easier but there not worth the prices they are on sale for. I would pay 8k tops for one, so would be a lot cheaper to buy a shell, swap all the bits over and i'l have a 3dr for just the price of a shell.
Ideally i want a white saph and a white 3dr as i said i'd always keep my saph for life.

black commands a high price though doesnt it, same with saph's. I dont think black would go well with my white comp mo's. for that price i'd want all doors glass the lot
I agree you will get a cheap 3 dr fully rebuilt from your saph, but if your willing to pay 8k for one you will get a good one for that, they have just recently gone up in price but look how many are actually selling not many, WHITE is defo the best LOL @ R4N. its diffucult getting 3 dr shells now as they rare and commanding big money compared to the mass (ish) produced saph 17000 iirc compared to the 5000 3 dr's
like everyone else has said it'd be easier and end up around the same price to just buy the actual car rather then swap it all over, as you will need a bonnet tailgate arches skirts doors glass bumpers rubbers etc a long list that will soon add up in money as the 3 door parts are getting rather expensive and you wont find them parts on a saph, so unless you come across a really cheap shell which wont be likely unless it needs welding id say just go and buy the real deal
surely the condition of the shell (RUST) is what makes it worth something? unless it has rs500 on the logbook? having just rs cosworth on a logbook dont mean sodall to me id rather spend 2ce the amount on a rs500 shell if i was worried about id
i.d means everything mate
you could have a top of the range 500hp 3dr even though on log book its just a normal sierra 1.6etc and half the buyers would be put of. Its fine if your keeping it for life but it makes it a lot harder to sell on if its not a genuine shell. Imo of course

The Saph merely utilised the 3DR'S running gear, so everything will fit and indeed is interchangable, there were very subtle changes to the suspension (In terms of damping) it also had different TCA'S.
3DR's have cloth interior.

i've only ever driven my 2wd saph and even at top speed 156mph it felt planted to floor and thats just with basic koni kit.
QUESTION- if the 3dr and 2wd saph have basicly the same parts why do 3doors drive worse? Something to do with the chasis??

3 doors have a different front end set up,it more of a track set up but on the road it makes them feel abit vague imho also the sapp dont have a big spoiler on it giving mega down force and high speed which also lifts the front up,and the 3 door shell flexes more then the sapp
