Cossies are ACE.......RS cars are ACE....The history behind the cars from the mk1 twin cam to the focus RS says it all...the sight n sound of a mk2 RS on a forest stage is still better than a citroen or peugeot of today, so boring nowadays, a cossie turns heads and always will do no matter if its a saff, 3dr , or escort theres just something about em, whenever me n the misses are out in the escos she always says she feels like a gold fish in a bowl, everyone looking at us.......

I don't own/drive a Ford so probably have an unbiased comment to offer.
As some have said i think the Escort looks far far better than any 3-door or Saphire can do.

For people who know what Cosworths are they will always look at the Escort more on the road and by that i mean more effort from the eyes or neck. 3 doors are nice too but i would say its slightly colour and wheel dependant. White and Grey/Moonstone can look great.

The Saphs are just far too big and although may occasionaly thrill those in the know they won't excite people who don't know what they are, well not like the other two anyway and its only becuase of the engine/power and badge not the look.

Its the same on this site, if i ever take a glance at the gallery or for sale section and see "Cossie" then realise its a Sapphire i will feel disapointed to waste my browsing time and just hit the back button, and i do. Some people say Escos for Escort and Cossie for Sierras but some use Cossie to cover them all.

Don't get me wrong ther'res some great Saphs on here been well looked after but most people just see the Hierachy like this:

Saph>

Actually in terms of looks and attention i would rather see and RST, FRS or mass produced ST on the road than a Saphire. I know they are FWD and different cars but in terms of the topic........

on first spotting one first question i ask is it real especialy escorts!

as for my opions on the cars them selves

3 door/rs 500 - My second favourit car ever second only to a lotus esprit s4s. Instant respect for anyone who drives one on the road and not got it locked away in some heated quilted garage/lockup its meant to be used! Keep your 100k+ ferarris and lambos this is what its all about a supercar that can be looked after by the common man not by some fairy in a ultra clean baby grow who you pay 1k a time to wipe your 355's arse and change its hardly used oil!

Saff - Never really stirs the soul to look at if you have never drove one you wont understand the fuss but if you have then wow! I see plenty of saffs about i pass (or some times they pass me!) 2 every morning on the way to work which are over 400bhp and driven with enthuseasim! I have big respect for ones that are kept nice with no rust on because i know how hard they are to find always brings a smile to my face to see a nice one. Only problem with them is that they are like the middle child always in the shadow of its 2 more extream brothers the max power generation just dont get what they are put a 340bhp 4x4 saff against an impreza and they would soon take note!

Escos - Every schoolboys dream i think, dont think there was one lad at my school that wouldnt know what one was back in the day. An aboslute icon put a standard escos next to a 500bhp evo or impreza and id bet my life that the old ford would get more looks than the rice rattlers. It breaks my heart to see so many unloved ones for sale on the likes of ebay. On the other hand all the nice ones are locked up and never see day like the 3dr its meant to be enjoyed! If i see a esccy on the road ill go miles out of my way just so i can look and admire it!

Havent seen a 3dr on the road since a show, or a cruise ( not been to one for yonks! Maybe Ace Cafe a few months back )

being in essex i still see quite a few.and a good few of my mates have all the models covered!

its not about how fast they are compared to another supercar of this gen.its about the whole scene.the club,the way it drives,the modifing all sorts. i would love a supercar,but cant face getting rid of the taxi.

but i have to say they do piss people off in the top marque cars.like the twat at the southend pf meet i was pushing up the road in a 996 carrera 4 that just because i was all over him and wouldve passed slammed his brakes on fucking loser if you cant take a pasting,take daddies car back to him.he wouldnt get out of the car when i stopped either.poof!

I love seeing Cossie's and Rs turbo's around (only saw around 4 altogether though ) but when i see them i smile and stare at it when it drives past because i love them alot . (i am a younger one btw )

i absolutely love seein them, and have been known to stop in the street to watch one go past lol.

it is the presence on the road you have with one that i loved when i had mine...and being 19 was even better for me as my mates had their 1.3 saxos with stupid exhaust and air filters

One story Ill say, I was filling up at a shell, good ole optimax in full flow down the pipes, when I see some guy in a new car eyeing me car up, kept staring etc... anyway, filled her up, went in n paid, came out, started her, just about to get in and the guy goes "oi, is that a real one? I used to own a couple back in the day etc" so left the forecourt sideways and left some black lines down the road...... you just have to show off what you've got I think

you can't beat the look of a 3dr or an Rs500 to this day IMHO of course

although they can be a real pain in the ass and a wallet breaker at times theres no questions they are one of the best Fords ever made to this day

My 2 pence worth

In my 2wd saff got attention by of people here and there , the odd pointing but not alot really tbh

BUT the 3 door in the little timed ive driven it and owned it , down at tesco and came out and a old guy was down on his knees taking photos with a digi camera i was like u like it pal , he was over the moon seeing it , think it took him back to the 80`s or something who knows , people in petrol station asking and basically saying what a car etc dont see them much anymore .

Who cares i think they look great thats the main thing , and thats why im skint and my hads are dirty every night but these little things makes it all that little bit easier when your covered in oil

Also got some dude ina volvo chasing me on the bypass , just to give me the big thumbs up lol

BUT get the most looks when im broadside and its chattering its nuts off

i took my saff out for the first time in 3 or 4 months and was shocked when 2 kids on bikes were pointing and saying to each other "it's a cosworth".........i wouldn't have thought they would have known what it was,and whilst driving about you do notice people looking at them ..............even if it is in shock of seeing one in good condition or just seeing one nowdays !!!!!!!!!!!!

On the way back from National day this year i stopped for a break on one of the services on the M1 in the coach/lorry park, i was with another guy who had a S1 turbo & i have a black 3dr, a coach full of pensioners pulls up & one of the old boys getting off the coach came up to us asked if he could take a photo of the cars as his son was mad on RS's

Normally whenever i take the 3dr out you always get the person(if its a bloke) behind the counter in the petrol station say 'ca'nt remember when i saw one of those last'
