In my eyes you couldn't have brought a nice example then.... You shouldn't buy a car just for the engine, it comes as a package, and you should enjoy it as a package!

Some people still love the Cossies, i went to National day 05 with Smit and on the way home we had a little play with a Scoob and they loved it, they were waving and taking pics when we slowed down and let them passed.

Also on the way back from TOTB Smit had kids hanging out of the car traveling along side taking pics of the car.

When we took out Cossie upto the Claasic Ford show we had a couple of cars pass us with people giving it the nod on the way passed.

All good

was once changing the wheels on the driveway and a courier came to drop some parcels off, stood talking to me about the car for about an hour lol.

Everytime i see one I always look etc as I don't seem to see that many anymore. Whether it be 3dr/saph/Escos. Can't decide which I prefer out of the 3 either.

Personally I would never buy a porsche purely because they simply don't do it for me and to be quite frank nearly everyman and his dog has one around where I live LOL!!! (oh and I can't afford one )

the porsche is a truely great car there's no denying it but then my BMW 330Ci, Scoob STi8 and EVO VIII GSR were all better cars than my Escort Cossie but which one have I ultimately returned to ..... the escos!!

do I miss any of my other cars since I flogged my first esc cos ...... erm not a jot in all that time I have still bought the Ford mags so I can't put any sense to it, to me it is more than a car what more it is I'm not sure I wanna admit it but I bloody love my 10 year old escort

i never used to give them a second look either...probably because i had my cosworth blinkers on

after i had actually driven one it changed my mind as they are a superb package straight out of the box i still love cossies but its so easy to wind people up when you mention repair bills or reliability and not everyone that drives a porsche is a posh tosser
i am out numbered here so heres a pic for you all

I was coming home from the Trafford centre and a mint escort cosoworth went past me and i could not stop admiring it. Only ever seen 2 cosworths in the few years i've been driving. Appart from at shows of course but on both occasions i was so excited.
Want an imperial blue one was it? M234 VHL if so it was me!

it's not so much blinkered for myself I think it just comes down to having a passion for Escort Cossie's. I suppose I'm looking like one of those old boys driving around in their morgan's or triumph herald's not because its the ultimate driving machine or the most reliable thing on the road but simply because they want to

I suppose analysing this a bit further I had posters of Cossie's on my bedroom wall along with the mandatory countach and sam fox item wearing that antigua t-shirt mmmmmmmm, whoops of topic......

so now for me an Escort Cossie is a true piece of schoolboy hero material that I can easily afford and genuinely makes me smile just by looking at it I don't need to even get in it to enjoy it

Dan

Personally I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks when they see me out in either of my RS's, they can think what they like, I know what they are and thats all that matters to me, my opinion, no one elses!

my thoughts exactly dan

If I see an Escort Cossie on the road round here, or it's stopped (not only broken down), I'll always have a chat.

The 3 doors and Escort Cossies are pretty rare round here, so will get looks as they still have road presence, and still have that something about them.

I saw a magenta saff last night in Tesco car park in Borehamwood (was it you?) and as soon as I saw it, I was glad I didn't own one. It was noisy, scabby, and with its tinted windows, looked awful.

Kevin, yeh I see your point but then your car was at the silly performance end wasn't it LOL!!!

#stupid statement to make mode on#

For me with mine I really have never had any reliability problems with Cossies at all, I always keep them well maintained rarely abuse them mechanically and take the advice of the professionals with regards maintenance and upgrades.

#stupid statement to make mode off#

next year will see new Koni's, brake upgrade, a quick shift and a turbo upgrade and whatever else is required to see 300hp, then I'll move onto engine detailing, some new gauges etc etc etc I can't wait

have my Rondells in the garage which I'm trying not to open until xmas day

and its all this shit that I missed soooo much with my out of the box cars they simply became boring, very fast but bloody boring all the same

The copper who pulled me the other week started by saying "You don't see many of these anymore!"

I'm usually more supprised to see a normal Sierra.

We must all hear the same things:

Is it a real one?
My mate had one - went 170 mph!
How many more times are you coming in here for a tank of ultima this week?!

even the copper who pulled me over asked if it was real asi was only 21 at the time, he ws quite shocked id managed to insure a car like that at the age i was

then ive just had xr4x4 with yb lumps in and th ereaction on others peoples faces is priceless

About 6 years ago in my village there was a mallard green escort, i had no idea what it was, kept thinking "fucking hell! thats a big spoiler!!"

then my big bro brought home a fast ford issue, (5yrs ago, still have it)
an i saw a white 350bhp escos in it, an it clicked,

used to see it every now and again, then one night as i was walking home from mates house, it came tearing past me, dropped 2 gears, dumpvalve goin mad, flames poping out the exhaust, an it went screaming away up to the guys house,

guy sold it, it needed a rebuild caus it used to kick out some amount of blue smoke at times!!

i love them, imperial blue with rondals is what i want,

aint seen a cosworth in months, its just shitty chaved up scoobys an evos where i stay,

there wank compaired to a cosworth because they dont have the charm of the cossie!

Not jut cossies chaps, driving about in my S1 brings in plenty of attention, on the way home from andy's when i bought it a corsa full of fairly young (ie dont know what an S1 is types) drove past on the motorway and slowed down top keep with me (which IS rare) and took photos on their camera phone.

Cant park it with out at least 1 person hanging around it at some point.

and you can see people turn and look or point it out to their mates, its ace

Best thing though is its mine, my dream car, always has been.

Looking at it in the driveway's a treat

my last two saph 4x4s used to get the odd chav, stare at it,but i remember once coming back from crail, coming across the forth bridge and a 60+year old guy in a brand new sabb, gave me the thumbs up

but now ive got the 3-door i cant go anywhere without people staring, kids recording video on their phones

i went to get my front wheels balanced at budget and the guy done them for free cause it was a cossie...fuckin brillient

the only thing i hate about people who think they know about cars is the young team, saying thats not a real rs500 its not got 2 spoilers,im like no its just a cosworth, their reply(no such thing)its rs500 and saph,im like this is the original,go back to your corsa

but really i know a guy round here who has a very rusty moonstone f-reg saph, all 4 doors are rotted, the spoiler is on with masking tape, but when i see it i think its great, cause hes still got it motd and still goes like stink, and he doesnt care what it looks like aslong as it goes sideways......

cossies don't get anywhere near the repect they deserve. you have to rember the engine in late 80's technology.

it gives me grate plesure seeing a 2.5l 6pot twin turbo (or whatever the fuck they are) skyline shitter being smacked up but a 2l, 4 pot, single turbo cossie.

i love the stilying as well, they look as hard as nails impo.

as for the unreliablitly think i belive you get back what you put in. if you going to rag it from cold and switch it strage off after a rang and not change the oil bad luck.

i don't think people rilise that when they modify these engines they need more and more sevicing more and more regually.

i have a 140 bhp s1 (not a cossie i know) and i change all the filters every 2000miles. and when i put the .31, chip and fmi i will do it every 1000.

but when i see a cossie i look at the drive and think 2 things

1. you luckly barstard, if only i was 21

2. you fucking know what your doing, your taste in cars is spot on
