Cold Callers.
And by that i mean:
Landline rings....
I pick it up....
I'm greeted with silence.....
Then theres a click and your connected to a retard trying to sell you shit at all times of the day and night
Is there anyway i can stop this? I'm sure i recall a website or a company that you could register your phone number with and the calls stopped.
Has anyone got any info or maybe you've had to do this yourself?

Its called the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). Google it and see what you get, I had to join it with my old number, you phone a freefone no. and leave a message on a machine telling it your number and address. After 28 days, Hey Presto! You can eat your dinner in peace!

Just been to register mine and it said it was already listed?
I get these calls all the time and I tell them I am Telephone Preference (They shit themselves and hang up) not knowing that I already was?
So how are they still getting my number?

i used to do that job and im not a retard
some companies if they are phoning straight from the phone book won't know if your are TPS or not.
all the big companies send their data to be checked to see if TPS registered before phoning but then what if you register for TPS before they get round to phoning you....
it won't stop all of them for ever and ever.
i think there is a scheme BT do as well to stop sales calls (every little helps )
you could also try staying away from the following companies:
Halifax, AA, RAC, Morgan Stanley, Llyods, First Assist
they all phoned from the place i worked at in Plymouth.
