one of em involved cuting a tiny bit off the chassis leg and welding blah blah blah blah blah blah
the other was drive the peice of shite down to essex with under a grand and a week later theres a box fitted,,,,,,, not a spanner snapped and not 1 knuckle scraped with option 2
for the price off a bernie stage 2+ tbh its another decent conversion done by micheal carrols younger brother

The Quaife gear kit will give high top speeds if you select the right final drive... it's the close ratio gears that give you the problem if it's not purely for race tracks. If you want a top speed of 150mph, you're looking at a 1st gear capable of about 60mph!
Likewise a 1st gear which'll give 35mph (roughly standard), your top speed drops to about 115mph
I've worked it out every way I can, there's really no trade off if you want good acceleration off the line and still retain a good top speed
Yes, Quaife do a SCCR 6 speed god engagement sequential box, but just because it's all singing, all dancing, it doesn't mean it'll take 300bhp / lbs... does it..
It was used in Ford RS2000 Maxi rally cars, which used high revving 270bhp (200lbs) I4 engines. Even then, it wasn't really up to the job. The 18k Xtrac box was much preffered.
In mk5/6 escorts, to convert from iB5 to MTX75, you have to change the: subframe, engine mounts, driveshafts, hubs, gear linkages... so I suppose all that needs to be done in mk3 & 4s too? Yes in standard form the MTX75 is a stronger box than the iB5 / BC, but I can't really see the point of changing it when a modified iB5 / BC box is proven
Likewise a 1st gear which'll give 35mph (roughly standard), your top speed drops to about 115mph

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
the mtx75 has a much nicer shift and can be built to take more power and torque im sure. its a much more modern design so blatantly should be better when someone has worked their magic on it rather than the bc

My mate has a straight cut kit for a F25 vauxhall box, and it does 60 in first, topping out at 160.
My tip, fit a Vauxhall box, we have a standard gearbox that takes the power
