Default is anyone diabetic on here? what was your first symptoms?

over the past 1 month ++ i have been feeling a massive lack of energy when at work (where i feel faint), it effects me more as my job involves physical work for 3-4 hours of the day.

so i have to take something sugary out with me like a mars bar and the other day i consumed a whole pack of haribo sweets even though i dont usually eat this crap

my nan, grandad and uncle are diabetic, but im only young at 21

anyway booking a appointment at the doctors monday morning.

Bassboy posted some very useful info

You are not alone - and age has no relevance on diabetes either. Don't worry yourself over it, but DO go and get yourself checked out.

If you have it, is it blatantly obvious you've got something wrong with you? or is it possible to go through life without actually knowing you have diabetes?

There are several types or levels of diabetes.

It is possible to go through younger life with it un-noticed.

Iron deficiency can also cause you to have a lack of energy and feel faint.

I found out in March that i was type 1 diabetic, insulin injections now before eating, the full lot!!! I was knackered all the time, getting in from work and just hitting the sofa, toilet all the time, drinking loads of sugary drinks and eating chocolate but lost a stone and a half in a few months. Typical lad, just cracked on. Then i went to A & E because of a tooth abcess and had an operation on my mouth, thats wen they did tests and my sugar levels were at 31 when they should be between 4-7. If u r feeling shit get yourself checked out quickly cuz it will only get worse. And even if it does turn out to be diabeties it aint as life changing as what people will tell u it is.

my bro has it, was only diagnosed about a year ago, he is diet controlled at the moment, and is coping really well. You cant tell there is anything wrong really, but he has had to radically change what he eats.
