Default Revs problem

1.8 escort si, when changing gears the revs aint dropping ie; if you change in to 3rd from 2nd and the revs are at 2k they stay there till you pop it in gear, anyone had this before or have any ideas.?

As above its either idle speed control valve or throttle postition sensor, my GTi was showing signs of doing this when i first brought it from a garage, they changed ISCV and hooked it up to there diagnostics computer but that didnt show any faults , so they took it to an electrics specialist and it turned out to be the throttle postion sensor.

This was done about a year ago and its still spot on

My car does this sometimes. On mine its the connectors have a bad connection, so clean them up first before buying new parts and see if it goes away

were abouts is the iscv positioned.? and the tps.?

Come on Craig - Think, man!!

A good place to try looking for the TPS would be on the throttle, seeing as how it's a Throttle Position Sensor!!

ISCV could be remote but is likely to be in the same kind of area, they usually look like a small silver cylinder.
