PassionFord Post Whore!!
I did watch the programme, for the second time as it was also on in May.
I will ask again,
Where should the Police do their driver training?
I will narrow it down a little for you
Racetrack - No racetrack big enough or long enough.
Runway/Airfield - As above.
Unfortunatly, these have to be done in realtime due to the seriousness of car crime these days, And i will add that the Police also use decoy cars in these tests (the Jag in the scene you mentioined could have been one).

Quality job... I would love to be in their shoes!!
Love watching programmes like this, was mint... especially when you know most of the places where they are driving.
On the topic of training on public roads... I totally agree with it, they need to make sure their skills are top notch, if they were chasing somebody who just broke in to your house or killed a family member then im sure you would want them to be able to drive.

If a Police car is damage there is an internal investigation and the driver could be suspended from driving during that investigation, As that is their main part of their job, plus the fact it could be unsafe to them or the public (footpaths, fields etc) then it is understandable.
PS - You aint answered my previous question

I'm a Police Advanced driver and there is no way you could train on a racetrack or airfield, it just wouldn't develop your skills for pursuits or emergency calls. The only off road training that I did was on the skid pan, j turns and high speed reverse training through cones.
As for learning with your blues and two's on, theres no point as the course is all about reading the road, thinking ahead and getting yourself in positions so that you can overtake / make progress safely.
Thers no point driving like an arse to an emergency if you don't get there because you've crashed on the way.

That running commentary can be funny at times
Do they not do the Blues and Two's down your way, they do it mainly for the initial driver training in a Tranny up here to see how you react to other drivers actions when they see or hear you.
