Right, Karlos called to say there was a bit of compression loss from cylinder 1 , and thought it may poss be piston rings or something, but wouldnt know till weekend when Ollie would have chance to rip it apart.

He got round to it well sharp, but only to find bad news.

Engine has only done 5k, but the block had been bored too big for the pistons that were in it (like throwing a sausage into a shopping centre).

There was problems with the head as well which will need £300 + throwing at it to be sorted.

Problem is, I need a new 2L mondeo bottom end, so the bores can be machined for my pistons. He did say its got very pretty, new, internals, just this problem with the block

Also had other work done before this which I guess is waste now.

So ... If anyone has a Mondeo lump about, let me know....

gutted to hear that mate, bloke at work built a zetec turbo and the machine shop down the road bored too much off, apparently the crank wasnt done brilliantly either. that needed a new block after not too long aswell

Hello mate,

I'm gutted to hear this and feel responsible/annoyed.

All i can really say is i put my trust in certain companies to carry out the machining and building of the engine and it appears they did a very poor job.

What is wrong with the head?

He said it would be 250+vat to sort the head.
Also head gasket isnt up to the job.

In all honesty Stu, don't actually break it.

I would have by now though, because my attention span don't last that long

If it doesn't work instantly, I break the sucker. I'm too old to be delaing with the hassle now. But GOOD ON YOU for persevering with it.

Should make decent power when finished, and at least you know karl and the boys at NMS will do an A1 job

2.0L Zetec bottom end now sourced from a Mondeo, will pick it up tomorrow and get it to NMS for Friday, so all my engine internal goodies can be swapped across
