Default Whats the most economical car for 2k?

Looking to buy a new runaround car but am not sure what to get looking to spend anywhere between £500- £2000 but it must be very good on fuel so it will proboly have to be a deisel.

The cars i have i mind are so far are, primera td vectra td pug 306 d turbo oh and the old merc e300 deisels becaues i like them, any of you guys have any ideas or veiws on these cars?

Depends what you want. I have just picked up a 98 S Vectra SRI Estate to bomb about in, not too bad on fuel, even handles well. 105k on clock, 38mpg, insurance Grp 12 etc.

just get a 306 or 205 diesel and run it on chip fat!

metro 1.5 diesel maybe?

i have had 1.7 early turbo d vectras n-p reg and got 50ish mpg
but i suppose a 1.5 106 or somthin will do 60 ish

LPG is the way to go, i've had 2 cars on LPG and loved them, looking for another now, you get the performance of the petrol and better £ per mile than a diesel, if you work it out, if a diesel of what ever model does say 50mpg and the petrol does say 35mpg, because the LPG is half the price of petrol you are getting twice the 35mpg for the same money so thats 70mpg, you do lose a little in performance but you wouldn't know it.

have a look on ebay, loads on there but tick the box to find LPG in the ad as well as the title cos some people don't list cars as LPG till you get into the ad, you'll be surprised how many are about and what you can get, and if you buy with it already fitted it doesn't make the car any dearer than the same model without LPG so your getting the LPG kit fitted for free basiclly

you can get early a4 tdi's for that much now a lot of car for the money

i got a rover 45 td and its great on fuel 50 plus to the gal its xreg and
only cost £950.oo you cant go wrong

Mondeo TD.

My S reg one does 45-50 mpg and you can pick one up for around 600-800pounds.

never let me down yet.
