why are some people rippin this?
this is ace. most people i meet dont know wtf an escort cosworth is and let alone the fact that the bloody digi clock isnt in the correct place of the dash or the front camber is slighty differant. this guy has an escort cosworth that does 30 odd MPG and dosent spend its life been repaird and it cost a quarter of the price.
no everyone is rich, and if u just wanna go quick buy jap. :S

the bloke wants an escos on half budget. and hes done it, bravo m8.
if i had some cash id fork out on this.

sorry but you dont buy an escos for fuel economy And your fucking naive if you think they are cheap cars to run! They can be reliable and reasonable to run as long as you dont buy a dog and look after it.

the "not everyone is rich" arguement doesnt hold water. Lots of working class people have escos through hard graft and saving despite housing costs, kids etc.

i agree with the not everyone is rich but up my local garage the aprentice is paying 2100 to insure a 1.2 corsa, so lets say they want a reasonable looking car instead of a saxo he could insure a replica or pay 6k a year insurance on a real one when he probably doesnt earn much more, for some people a replica would be the closest they will get to one untill there age and no claims is on there side.

lol, i am working class witha cos and kids etc. and i know what u mean. but my wife had a mk5 xr3 and it was reliable cheap and ace fun. if i could av had that relaibilty with escos looks win/win. my son brings his m8s gf etc round and i think one of his m8s new that the sapphire was what it was.
do u understand what i mean. u gotta be a serious ford nut to realise that aint a real escos.

but hes a very low earning apprentice who is young and has little driving experience. What did he expect the insurance to be like???

People set thier expectations too high at times thinking they can easily afford a flash car at a young age. For the average guy that just isnt the case. Its a sad reality of life that generally your first few cars are shit boxes until you can save/gain NCB. Sooner people accept this then the sooner they can get over being dissapointed and wanting something unrealistic.

i carnt see it being a problem owning a replica

end of the day its his car and the car isnt that bad, a hell of a lot better than my first cars anyhow

just becuase some people dontlike replicas or dont see the point in them i dont understand as i bet if you were that age you would love to be driving round in something like this i know i would be

its quite amazing really unless you have a genuine cosworth or rs turbo everyone thinks your cars is shit, its a ford foru, nice to see more ford members on who appriciate cars like this wether there reps or real things

you have a nice car mate just ignore the idiots, but as its apublic forum everyone has there say and thoughts, but youwill find 90% of there thoughts are negative which is stupid

i have a rep and im bloody proud of it dont care if i get done by a saxo vts i really dont just the way i can go down the street and everyone looks at it every car that pulls over for me lol loads of things and do you class a replica on just the engine or the body coz people do change engines look at escort rs turbos they upgrade them to zetec turbos is that a replica or is it just something to pick on i dont think so i know someone who has a cossy in a standard sierra only thing that looks different is exhaust and bonnet a cosworth owner can make there car look stardard but someone who is not cant make a replica

and soon replicas will be cool as just look at mk1 mk2 escorts most of them are rs2000 reps and look how much they go for ,put the effort in and money keep the car youll soon think yh that was worth it but do have big respect for the people who do buy the real thing and i do have respect for the people that dont and to tell ya some reps look better than the real thing

cheers johnandhissaffy

If an Escos is the guys dream car and he can't afford one or come close to running one then i don't blame him for getting a rep, Ive got a mate who's got one and personally i think its Turd (not even Turbo'd), I wouldn't have one ever as it would not be the real mccoy and everything a cossie Is a rep certainly ISN'T. But fair play to the guy as its a car he's proud of! I dread the day i have kids and try and run my RST

Totally agree Warren. Also it would be very foolish of a young inexperienced driver to get behind the wheel of a genuine Escos. I look back to how i used to drive when i was in my late teens/early twenties when i had a MK 3 XR3i, i was totally mad and wouldn't dare take some of the risks now that i took back then and that was with only half the BHP an Escos has.

i think that if its what somebody enjoys driving around in and has a good time then theres no problem with having a replica. i have a escos rep and id be as proud driving that around as i wud be driving a genuine one around, i think it all comes down to personal taste. but i believe mines doesnt let the cosworth side down with all the cheesy sunstrips and add ons that you see going around!!
