Default Planes landing in crosswind

That looks mental, and must take some skill, the last one looks unreal!

Also, never knew the landing gear could turn like that?

Main landing gear (under the wings) is on a fixed axle and cannot turn. The nose leg is steerable via hydraulics or electric motor.

The 3rd video (the Boeing 777) and the 4th (777 again) - looks like they are hovering untill they actually touch down - they are some amazing angles of attack Aeroplane drifting?

777's are proper bad boys. The engines are fookin huge when you see em close up! Really cool planes and quiet too. They even have cameras so the pilot can see the engines and other bits of the plane

http://www.airliners.net/open.file?i...ext_id=0902057 A pic of its cock...pit lol

The 777 is quite an advanced aircraft. When I worked for Lauda air in vienna one of his 777s was about to land in australia when a component went pearshaped. The pilot didnt need to know because a back up system cut in.The on board computer via satellite sent a message to the hangar in vienna to say what the problem was and the location of the faulty component.

I thought that too, but from this pic it looks like it's turned? but could be wrong as its not very clear and the angle has prob made it look like it has moved

not always mate.plenty of people escape crashes. Its very rare when a kite goes in compared to the amount that fly every day.Sit near the arse end and there is less to hit you when it comes to a dead stop. thats where they put the black box and they always survive.

I remember a clip from the old Honk Kong airport, a 747 literally metres from landing suddenly getting blown i would say 60 degrees side on, looked scarily awesome.

it is computers mate. They got man on the moon years ago after all.The Airbus can taxi out using magnetic strips on the taxi way and take off itself using minimum thrust (auto thrust),fly itself to its destination (pre programmed by the pilot) and taxi to the terminal again.
