Quick Question.
I have a Sierra Sapphire 1.8 LX and i love it to bits but its a bit gutless.
After coming on here im slowly getting drawn towards an RS Turbo Series 2 or XR3i with the RS kit on (replica).
I am currently paying £1088 for TPFT Insurance (had a 2 year ban for no insurance).
Do you guys think i would be able to get an RS Series 2 or XR3i and insure it for the same price as my Sierra?
I know both the Escorts i want would kill my Sierra in a race.
or failing that should i just buy a Sierra with a 2.0 DOHC in it and sell my Sierra.
I really like Sierra's but the RS Series 2 is on my "must have before i die list".
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

In a word, no.
Your 1.8 Sierra will be significantly cheaper to both buy and insure. The XR and RS badges will make insurers hike their policy.
If you are paying as much as that, I am guessing you have only recently passed your test, in which case the best advice is to gain some miles in the car you have, get some no claims, and then buy exactly what you want in a couple of years.
You will end up paying a fortunre otherwise in my experience.
Sorry to be negative. Just say it how I see it

Hopefully you will get a good deal matey. Dont worry though, in time you will realise that it is best to save up and buy a cossie in a few years instead LOL!!

yeah confused.com is good, just be patient and fill out the questions and it will search 100's of company and show you the cheapest, gotta be worth a shot
And also i drove a 2.0DOHC, it was a "sapphire" model so it had all round brakes aswell and fuck me ive never drove a car with such good brakes, it was literally tap the pedal and you would be yanked forward
went well too

If you are going to insure an RST, you'd best put it on a limited milage classic policy. You won't earn any NCB on it, but it's about 30% of the price of an everyday policy
