ANYONE KNOW THIS CAR, OR ENGINE BUILDER/TUNER
Right i could be the new owner of this car the weekend, as ive seen this car and it looks a good example
1978 ESCORT RS2000 Reg No WVU 560S in Venetian Red.
Car has a good spec, as the engine was built by Harris of H.P.E
Does anybody know this Engine builder. Been told hes the man with tuning Pintos.
SPEC OF CAR..
Extensive engine re-build, which was done a few years ago. Has only done a few thousand miles since then,
Comprising of uprated head and camshaft
Bored out block to 2.1 ported & polished.
Twin 48`s
Has worldcup crossmember, and sump gaurd.
5 speed quickshift gearbox & quick rack steering.
Bilstien inserts & lowered with performance exhaust system.
Battery re-located to boot, also electric fuel pump.
Car was restored around the same time as engine re-build
Arches have been nicley rolled to accomodate the RARE 7 1/2 inch alloys.
Has lots of MOT`s, but previous owner has lost the history for the rebuild.
Car is now at a local tuner/engine builder who has a rolling road.
Car is currently being set up. Previous figures state the car is around 175-180 BHP.
Car is in good condition, as panels all line up. NO signs of filler. Looks the nuts as being on the wider alloys and lower than std.
The only fault is that the cloth on the driver seat is worn, not ripped.
Thats it really..Hoping someone knows the car, or the engine builder.
So i can contact him to confirm spec & see if he can supply copies of reciepts for work done.
This car looks stunning under the bonnet as inner wings, bulk head & strut tops look great. Car has been restored well.
Hope someone knows this car or engine builder as, once it comes back from being set up, im having a test drive
& if i like, I WANT IT......
Steve

Ron harris(hpe) has been tuning pintos since they came out and is 'the man' as you put it.he runs a rs2000 mk1 himself with a pinto pushing out around 200bhp and most people with a old school car would love a harris engine

Car sounds good and you cant really avoid the drivers bolster wear on a 28 year old car,but are reasonable to retrim...ive owned 7 mk2 rs2000's and the only thing i wouldnt like is the 5 speed box as it hasnt got the close ratios of the standard gearbox but should go well with that spec

Cheers Mark. This car is tempting me as ive seen it, but i know where you are coming from with the std 4 speed box.
I would love a std RS2000 in really good condition, but these are rare & command really good money.
TBH i may have a chance of a very nice Signal Orange RS2000 thats std.
Awaiting pics & info on it, BUT again im not sure of the price, as the guy restored it himself. Sounds like hes done a few after talking to him.
Seems very knowledgeable with these cars, which is always a good thing.
Just hope the price is as good as the car

Car was set up and is now running healthy
167 BHP Healthy @ the wheels
Problem now is i was offered the car 200 cheaper if i took it as it was, but i wanted it right
Now he has fixed the car he wants more for it, which is fair enough.
As he was prepared to knock 200 quid off i decided to offer to pay the setup cost plus fuel cost, as he took it & pick it up approx 50 miles
So in all ive offered 400 quid more, which i think is good. as set up was 250 plus vat.
BUT he`s told me he wants more for it
It failed MOT on emissions so had to get it set up anyway
Taking it back for re-test tomorrow & is then gonna decide how much he wants.
Im GUTTED as i agreed to buy this at the weekend & have set up insurance, as was looking to tax Sat..
So might not be having it now

Yes m8 failed Co levels, when turned jets down, it failed on somthing else to do with emissions.
Fella who set it up Mikeanics, said that he refurbed carbs & timing was well out.
Now running sweet

Going in for MOT either Monday or Tuesday Jay
Car was setup at Mikeanics in Cheshire, he was impressed with spec & build.
Said the power was very strong through the gears & power delivery was spot on. Good strong engine
Cant wait
