Not in the slightest, made the correct choice both times. No matter the age, how common, image, etc, they're a brilliant car and I love them. I've driven 3 times the distance I did in the 7 years I owned an RS and zero break downs(apart from punctures) and uber fun all the way

my thoughts on this are the fact ford hasnt carried on making performance cars since the days of the esc cossie etc coz of emissions and coz they are more aiming at family motoring now really. personally i reckon the only reason did all the st's is due to public pressure from people who want performance hatchbacks, plus to keep up with the likes of vauxhall who have their vxr range.

face it, 15years ago u could go into your ford showroom and buy a ford fiesta with 130 odd bhp 1.6 turbo lump, recaro seats and a smart lookin bodykit and bigger bumpers. how far have they advanced in 15yrs? well, fiesta st, 150bhp. i know u cant really look at it like that, but u kinda get what i mean. wheres a mk6 fiesta rs??

reason people still love cossies?? coz 15yrs on, someone else orginally paid the 20grand new price, some1 else has spent 10grand making it 400bhp, then people these days can get that 400bhp for best part of 7grand say for a nice saph.

whys everyone movin on from ford? coz they dont want big maintenance costs, and realise that if they paid 18k for fords latest 'high performance' car, they could get a couple yr old beemer which to be fair is a hell of alot more reliable than a cossie escort, and they all know ford can do much better than the focus st. we always get teased by talk of 4x4 and rs focus etc etc

dont get me wrong, i love my fords, my next one after i sell my rs turbo one day will be a saph 4x4 cossie for sure. but i reckon i wont keep it that long, i will get sick of constantly havin to replace little bits. i will just have one coz ive always wanted one and dont wana think ne day, 'wish i had owned one of them'

Well as a Esc Cos owner and an E46 M3 owner I've gotta say I love both of them pretty much equally.. but they are chalk and cheese.. in strange ways that I will attempt to explain

Its very hard to explain but the M3 is a little but too perfect.. and I love the Escos for its 'characteristic' faults

Image is very important in my job and the M3 is perfect for that and makes me feel quite old and confident its deffinalty a more serious drivers car with awesome pace and I love its sound!

The Esc makes me feel young and youthful I love that fact that I've always wanted one and the retro looks and feel never fails to put a smile on my face




So to sum it up the M3 is like a supermodel and the Escos is a page three girl

How can you say they are bland? Maybe you're just addicted to modifying to the point where even if you did buy something like Paul's CSL, you'd still uprate the brakes, search for a little more power etc etc

As for Sean, it helps when you have the ultimate track Exige sat in the garage for god's sake!

... and if you want to swap and have money coming your way, you're rating your car at 35k.......... and no-one in their right mind is going to give you that much for your car... so you lose on the value too!

VW's good build quality, reliable? Yep, our passat, 2 doors wouldn't open, boot was stiff and the turbo blew on one of our vans with less than 10k on the clock, top notch for a brand new car.

Fact is, even though the cossie/RS is falling apart, won't start and run properly.. when they do, they still draw more attention than your angel eye headlights with your climate control and general buttons that waste fuel and never get used..

Escort was built to do a job BACK IN THE DAY!!!!, M3 was built to drive fat balding middle aged men and their twats of sons about in town, not to go hussing around a rally stage popping and banging and generally serving a purpose. Get real! both sides of the coin!!! Each car appeals to each market. You cannot compare a shonky old barge next to a brand new BM. i had a sorted y plate mk3 scort 2dr est that took me years to finish n loved it, then i fell for the U GOTA BUY NEWER TO KEEP UP CRAP! i bought a 97r plate e36 328ise for £13,000 when it was 3 yrs old, i was chuffed to fcuk 0-60 in 6 secs 190 bhp restricted 145mph! that was until i blew the big ends....warped the head when the head gaskit decided it had enough. also the digi dash climate control did what it wanted after a while 1 min it would blow hot then ice cold off an on like a strobe! plus theres no feelin to driving them, you can go around a corner at 100+ just like your going down a straight road. dont get me wrong i loved it aswell but there not as well built as they used to be. so now im trying to track down another mk3 est as im going back to basics. its cheaper and i like to feel like im actualy driving a car. i like the basic track car feel of fords, i reckon there more of a crack. i wont ever buy a newer car again!!!!

prefer the ford...ok bmw's are not bad cars, but there not fun to drive, maybe their fast and that, they have a nice sound, but im 17 iv driven a beema around, noone notices a beema there too many around, so i brought a cossie, there not really better to drive but there alot more fun, maybe il keep the beema i have now for 20 years and then compare it to my cossie, im sure the cossie will still be better
