I think it's because they are buying newer cars and Ford don't make much that's equivalent. Certainly nothing past the STs but no RWD

have been a ford person for 8 years, now carless until i find the audi S4 i want, 4wd and a couple of turbo's, 6years old 8 - 10K, now ford just dont have anything in there range at the moment that would interest me, i like the mondeo ST220, my dads had a few now, but ffs ford fwd, now jaguars ford shares the same floor plan to some extent and they do a 4x4!

or just release the falcon XR6 turbo or typhoon here officially!

Mate... It's the FWD bit you're missing...............

Why spend 18 grand on car thats FWD? I don't get it.

18 grand would buy you a very nice EVO/Scoob/Skyline........

I don't see the reason in having a front drive car just because it's a Ford.

Brand new with 3 years warranty - ie free motoring except servicing an petrol........i dont think theres any scoob or skyline that you can get like that? I see your point but the ST is great value for a new car

I dont care I was respondint to Rabs original point that the ST was poor value for money, which it isnt!

Anyway, i'm pretty sure a standard Focus ST will whoop a Standard 3 Door in any situation you can think of......apart from donughting, pretend drifing down the ACE or at being polished at a classic car show

Mate, in my experience. A warranty is utterly useless.... They always get out of doing work on it for free. Plus, it also means you're limited to a standard car for 3 years........

I'm saying it's crap VFM because you can go much much faster, for 18k...

I would bet that a Focus RS or a Focus ST will beat any standard Cosworth round any track. The Focus RS murdered the Subura Impreza round the Top Gear test track and the Scoob would murder the Cosworth.

At £17495 the Focus ST 2.5 is almost £10,000 cheaper than an Escort Cossie when new. The Focus RS and ST are aimed at a lower price band than the EVO, Scooby and lets not forget the Skyline was a £40,000 car.

If Ford produced a RWD 280bhp Focus that handled like the Evo round the track how many of you would buy it. You are all quick to say I would buy one tomorrow. What if it was £22,995. How many driving RS Turbos could afford it? AT best trading in an RS Turbo would leave £20,000 outstanding.

The M3 and M5 are a class above anything Ford, Suburu sell. Those 2 Bm's are the whole package, looks, performance, comfort, handling and reliability.

I'm guess because most people in here are middle aged and pissed off with boy racer image associated with owning a cosworth, rst etc.

I don't think I could manage driving around in a 15yr old sierra, let’s be fair they look dated. And from what I've heard they're not exactly reliable.

And now E36 M3's have came down heavily in price, lots of people on here seem to be going that way. And constantly bragging about how they've got some prestige motor, when in actuality it's just some 8yr old Beemer worth less than a new fiesta. That anyone that has any money wouldn't be seen dead in.

I mean let’s be fair, back in the day if you wanted a performance car a cosworth was the way to go. But now they just don’t cut it. Driving around in a cosworth is like the equivalent of walking round in a shell suit with a mullet. It’s old news! The dagenham boys can't compete with the JDM performance market these days.

if we was all rich we would be driving cars like f430's gallardos and bentleys but were not so 15 yr old sierras with 400bhp will have to do for now!

escos didnt start at 27k

when they first came out there weremore like £22250 IIRC

then they went upto 27-28 after a few years

please some one correct me if i am wrong

thanks

If you have or like BMWS or what ever make you have, no problem.
Dont even mind people saying how great they are on here.

If you have a non Ford and use this site and think/say Fords are bad or
you have no respect for the marque, then fuck off to your own cars make
website and say it there as I for one dont want to hear it.

I like Fords despite there faults and am proud to say it.

Remember the website name PASSIONFORD.

Just my opinion.... And I am probally alone but dont give a fuck.

but everyone on here well 99% aint buying new, there going for 4 - 8 year old german/ jap stuff in the say 6 - 12k region, which ford cant fill as once the escos was done 96, than aint produced 10 years worth of gap a worthy upgrade, hence everyone looking elsewhere

also the reason escort cosworths hold there price and allready worth more than focus rs's, they just aint a replacement

Get inside a £15k Escort Cossie, and then get inside something like a BMW for similar money.

Then come back and tell me the Escort has a nice interior.

I would still prefer my car over Dave's E46 M3 , as once you get over the honey-moon period of these cars, they are just too BLAND to really enjoy driving (just ask Sean Bicknell why he got rid of his E46 M3 convertible ). I would consider part ex-ing my Escort for Paul Eggleton's new CSL, but there would have to be cash coming MY WAY to tempt me .

People are of course entitled to there own oppinions but I have to agree that if they are strongly anti ford then why hang about on PassionFORD?

Heard all this about mk1 & 2 escorts and the like when all the gti's and xr's started coming down in price yet imo they still have a very strong following and im sure the cossies etc will have for years to come, the fact that people even compare the cosworths to the cars they do goes to show somthing. (not sure what though)

Yo Dan

lets be honest here the M3 bmw is a well sorted car for the money

it has everything lux/comfort/speed/handling

i drove my mates brand new M3 and was well impressed with it ,ok it cost him a few grand the only thing i didn't rate was the brakes after abit of thrashing they didn't work verywell apart from that it's very good road car

it has crossed my mind to sell the cos and buy a good secondhand one or an audi s4

ford have got fook all out there to offer us nothing at all for me thats why i stick with my 20yr old sierra and keep fixing the fooker or improving it

i got to a stage now not spending no more on it once this last conversion is done

I got my Audi as well as my RS's. In all fairness I did want a Focus but the missus was worried I would tinker so we got an A4 Avant. Which I have left alone.

Someone said what cars can you get thats as good as the focus ST, well, i can't think of any that cheap tbh. However, it's still alot of money when you can buy a 850 t5 for under £1k that will last forever, won't rust and it'll all be the same colour. Ok you won't have 3 year warrenty but volvos are pretty reliable anyway.

I'm willing to bet 5-10 years time people will be back driving ST focues as they become cheaper, cos as someone said in the 5-8k price bracket of 5-10 year old cars you have scoobys, skylines, evo's, m3's, s4's, vr6 and thats about it really, no fords at all, if theres no fords on offer to buy people ain't gonna be buying them so they'll buy something else, it really is that simple.
