Default Apexi Power FC, anyone mapped using it?

How good are they, and how fast are they to map?

Also what can be adjusted, just timin and fueling?

As a mate has got one in his pulser, running air flow meter version,
and another has one in his GT30 turbo'd Mr2.

Both got the controller fitted. and 1 of them's asked for me to map his car.

Any info or experence will be Great.

Cheers Danny

pretty decent, adjust everything your average aftermarket ECU can, people run them on big power cars, so they obv ok.

there one or two people who map their own on the GTR board etc, dont know em personally tho, and TBH they such arsey people there id not openly post for help, tho maybe searching and PMing wouldnt be a bad call.

Its just like a unichip basically, everything starts at zero to be the stnadard map for the car, and you adjust from there.

Ive only used one briefly though and it was a long time ago now so cant remember a massive amount about it ,but was pretty straightforward IIRC

nothing like a unichip, chip.

its a complete replacment ECU, its not some piggyback load of shite.

always comes with a basemap or two for the specific car.

for injectors and AFMs it has the settings for the common replacments built in too.

We do PowerFC's. Mainly on SR20DET's, but we have done some others too, including a Turbo'd Integra.

It's a easy or as hard as you make it. We are very thorough, unlike alot of tuners that crack PFC maps out in an hour and charge £100.

or crack them out in an hour and STILL charge a fortune, safe enough in most instances and do the peak power, but run totally shit compared to how they could be...

and then watch all the sucker skyline owners still love you off as they dont know any better.

Sounds like alot of old skool tuners trick, Just power figure map.

The Mr2 turbo i mentioned, is on a Gt30 external, Tuned by 'TUNING JAP'
and it made 400 bhp, and 260lb/ft @ 24psi on another set of rollers, 1 month after the Full map by 'TJ'
But It was running in the 9's AFR, and well retarded
And considering its spec'd to run upto 530 bhp, 400+ lb/ft he's not happy with the Map he paid £600 for.

Their's also a local Pulser on Motec, built and tuned by 'T J', and this things always got black smoke bellowing from the exhaust. I'm now convinced 'T J' are Sponsored by Shell.

260lbft@24psi on a 2litre

Id expect at least 100lbft more

Proves that mapping makes a HUGE difference

I had a play with one of these a few years ago on a pulsar GTIR.

Was pretty good except that the mapping was done by a tiny handheld
display unit and could not be backed up or done by a PC.
Probally can now though.

You will piss it Danny no problem

the worse part is the lag, its got nothing below 5500rpm, but then revs to 8500rpm, and when it changes gear, it fulls back into lag.

And this car is meant to challage my Fiecos on the 1/4, as we both started building them at the same time, to run 10's.
But i played with him on Saturday in my xr2tt, He was faster, but not by much.

He's even been beaten by a mates 350 bhp pulser, and a mate in a std Supra running 15psi kept with him.

Connecting a PowerFC to a laptop is not very simple. Writing a complete map on the Commander would be an absolute nightmare!!
