Default To dump the Dizzy or Not? that is the question

Right im having a new engine loom made up by Ryan, the thing is should I dump the dizzy or not?

Whats involved, prices benifits etc...?

Im running P8 managment if that makes a difference or not? presumably the ECU will need modding? whats everyone think?

Then you can either blank off the dizzy with an oil pump drive widget, and mod your cam cover and inlet cam for a phase sensor.

OR get Ryan to make the dizzy/phase plug long enough to still reach the dizzy and then do the cam and cover mods later on!!

Its the one single MOD that you should do , transforms the way the engine drives and removes all related problems and misfires .

I have no problems with my standard dizzy setup and group a coil. Peaks 34 psi with no misfire

You all seem to be getting very confused.

There is no need to dump the distributor at all, and it reaps no benefits whatsoever on a road car IMO.

The distributor CAP and rotor arm are a different topic altogether and well worth doing to improve the ignition system.

is there a need for cam and cover mods, stu makes no mention of a rocker cover mounted sensor in the above mentioned post.

may save up, and go wasted spark and closed loop at the same time

ahhh i see. My distributer cap and rotor arm setup together with group a coil; gives me no problmes at the moment even with a 34 psi boost spike.

No. For road use just leave the distibutor and phase sensor where Ford put it. Moving it has no benefits at all IMO.

ahhhh, ok, so leave the dizzy in place and use the phase sesor in that.

some people dump the whole dizzy and then need a phase sensor like the one in the photo above

cheers stu

lamar69er mistake imo.

i would follow the advice on here and keep the distributor body only to utilise the phase sensor to drive a coilpack conversion
