Euen,
My car had also done in excess of 8,000miles, suffered 50°+ charge temps on the day and had starship gearing (162mph in fourth .), all of which plays a big part in power readings . At least mine was proven to do 180+mph EVERY time it went to Brunters .

Christ......... Another ATW power figure argument about AVA........

The only way to take ANY rlling road figure is to get a starting point, and then a finishing point when all your build is complete. Then you can see what you've gained.

For instance, my old old old.. (x9 ) S2 started with 96@ wheels due to the fact the actuator had gone soft.... with that fixed running std boost I made 112 @ wheels

6 grand and 7 months later it made 210.5 @ wheels. Now, I don't personally care what 210.5 @ wheels equates to in flywheel power, I just know I gained roughly 100 bhp over the standard car. Which was fine for me

And I think thats what Euan has done. He knows what he's gained at AVA. And thats all that matters And besides, it's fucking fast. I've had people that have been in it tell me about it while going slightly pale and a kind of green colour (vrrrooom_pishflaps where are you? )

AVA very rarely quote losses but if they do its generally 30 bhp per driven axle regardless of power.

Block the cooler off to get them to go in excess of 50°C then to see how that changes things . All in the interests of science of course. Pads should be there tomorrow .

Mike.. I've got a few Javelin missiles that could do 180mph at brunters

As for the ship, no chance.. We're all far too pissed to even FIND brunters

Thats odd, i fully believe your car is this power @ wheels and fly

but

As i've always been told that, Ava said 100 bhp losses on a 4wd (let alone 2wd) was unbelieveable, as that sort of transmision losses would melt the transmission.

also on previous decussion about this some of Ava's customers said a 4wd car would only have 30-40 bhp losses on a 500 bhp engine.
this "comparrison" was done by me and not by anyone at AVA.

they dont think my car has this power but quote about 30 hp more for a fly fig but are not intersted in fly figs at all.

im only going by what i have seen on other cars that have been on ava rollers after being on a dyno.

ie mike rainbirds saf made 515 on harveys dyno and 395 ATW at AVA.
Andy Gallaghers escos made 612 on harveys dyo and 484 at AVA.

bear in mind both mikes and andys cars once fitted into the car have restrictive exhaust systems and all other related losses(alternator, higher charge temps etc) along with transmission.

i stand by what AVA say and agree that massive losses thru transmissions are impossible
take from this what you will..

Ok, So you have a 440 bhp/fly T4 cossie set up, thats abit poor then really, i mean 450 bhp was being done on std RS500's with a 8inj mod and a remap in the mid 80's.

As for Mikes car, 515 @ Harveys, - 40bhp for in car fitment, -17% trans losses = 395 bhp/whe, which all seems correct.

Has anyone run a car at a different RR and then @ Ava?
as i guess the power/ wheels will be the same

take from this what you will..

Has anyone run a car at a different RR and then @ Ava?
as i guess the power/ wheels will be the same
get your car out out and ill show you how poor my car is

next year my car will be back on the road, and we'll see what happens
hope so mate.

not wanting to argue but sure Rods 500 odd bhp engine and mikes 500 odd bhp engines both made around 410 atw at nobles one day....

it depends on who you listen to and their understanding of losses..

I'm not argueing, just trying to figure who's more accurate about transmission losses.

i can see your/ava's points about heat geration if 100bhp losses, but i also wonder why all other RR's and RR set ups quote more losses.

If a new std 4wd car, ie a evo 320, was put on Ava's rollers, would the bhp/fly be roughly the same as factory spec's?

As in Nissans own spec's for a Jap Pulser Gtir, is 220bhp @ fly, and 150bhp/whe.

What was the factory's quoted bhp?

Also does Ava's RR measure losses, or they just say as a rule of thumb that 30 bhp on 2wd or 60 bhp on a 4wd losses?

My S1 made 106@wheels with standard setup (NOT a new engine etc), 109@wheels is standard for an RS turbo.

u cant measure losses - using a rolling road. This is a subject that has been covered a million times before on passionford.

Coast down tests measuring resistance of the bearings in the gearbox n wheels? class
