almost 40 at one point on the recent run but the first run was very low due to it being in janruary.. think the max was 24

That depends on pressure.

But, 40 deg is very low.

40 deg charge temp is very low??

nah its starting to get on the high side if you are chasing bhp...

dyno cells keep charge temps to 20 deg do they not?

40oC is perfect temp for fuel atomization (sp) on NA cars, NOT turbo.

40 oC is safe, and not bad on a turbo car, But not perfect, thats why Most peeps set waterinj to come in at 38 - 40 oC .

40°C is used as a typical temp that any reasonable intercooler "should" be able to hold the temps to at big boost pressures, hence why Harvey's dyno cell uses this figure for mapping purposes.

Obviously once above this temperature, power tends to tail off due to the fact that a hot gas occupies more space, so you're getting less air into the engine. Then at certain temps above this (ECU dependent), you then get into the charge air temp retard part of the map, which makes things even worse. So water injection is used to hold the temps at around 40°C, and although it looses you power, it doesn't lose you as much as if the ECU had to go into retard mode.

will get some pics up when i can but the car wil be at AVA for a while yet as we have some prep work and testing to do...we need to get the car as near as flat out( on the road) as we can to double and triple check the AFR and det.

the car is being fitted with some new rear brakes(310mm 4x4 conversion) and the front discs and pads replaced as we are anticipating some very high speed stops sometime in the next month
