sharks
on ch5 now
there's a surfer in s. africa that was attacked by 2 great whites caught on camera they go for him together, but the first one grabs his board in it's mouth that knocks him flying so the other one misses him as well. how lucky?
but then he was targeted again later on.
and then again out of about 40 surfers in the water
why does the idiot keep going out there?
i hope to be going to s.africa in the new year. would love to go and see some great whites. ideally down in one of those cages, like a mate of mine has done. you can also do that off the coasts of cornwall, but generally not for great whites, although a programme that i saw a couple of weeks ago investigated the possibility that there have been several sightings and attacks on seals off the british coast lately

i fucking love sharks...
i had one as a pet, but it soon died,....
not sure why, i mean, i did have it in the bath.....
serious though,...
there have been patterns forming to suggest that the sharks are hunting in packs when USUALLY they hunt alone....
due to the amount of surfers in oz, africa etc etc,...
some have even followed and forced surfers out to sea so they have less chance of escape

B9KOS you lucky git. i'd easy pay that for the experience
EDIT: who did you do it with?
http://www.sharkwatchsouthafrica.com/dive.htm were used by steve irwin. crikey
trouble is, i'll be at springbok which is about 5 hours north of cape town, and shark alley is 2 hours south of cape town. january is low season as well, so less chance of seeing anything.
think i'll have to see how i like SA, and plan another holiday there in the summer and go see me some sharks

With it being the peak season in June/July the trips get booked up very quickly, so bear that in mind when you go. I'm planning on going back and taking my brother with me for his 40th.( 5 years away still though ).

I've got family in SA so am lucky enough to have the opportunity for a once a year jolly if I want.
This year I spent a week in Cape Town before going to see them in Pretoria.
I did the shark dive and with my girlfriend's brother, its fair to say I shat myself!!!! It was an awesome experience which was well worth the money.
This year I also went up to Kruger park and spent a few days on safari which was possibly the best thing that I have ever done!!
I definitely recommend it!!!!

Largest record specimen was caught off Cube in 1945, measured around 6m in length. There's many stores of massive great whites but little in the way of proof to back up such claims of very large ones. Most of the really large ones were fished out during the 'Jaws' period.
Ironically it is the Females that are always bigger than the males

yes but the picture i put up it was caught on a "ROD AND REEL"
The 3,427 lb White Shark: The Largest Fish On Rod and Reel
This shark was a little over 17 feet long and took us an hour and forty minutes to put the first gaff into it and then, after struggling for another hour, we finally got the fish secured with a tail rope, and dragged it home behind the boat.
Back at the dock at midnight, it took us another three or four hours to weigh in the fish, take photos and put him on a bed of ice for the night at Montauk Marine Basin. This picture shows where we brought him out in the morning to be examined by National Marine Fisheries Service scientists Jack Casey, Wes Pratt and their crew from the lab at Narragansett, Rhode Island.

I remember watching a programme years ago when they caught one of the big ones.
They carried out the usual autopsy to record its feeding habits and in its stomach they found half a Blue shark and a 12 foot Dolphin........Whole
