Default FAO of those who have been to New York!

As above the missus and myself are looking at going to USA again next year for a holiday (around June time). Rather than just do the usual 2 week stint in Orlando she / we want to go to New York for a few days first then get a connecting flight down to Orlando for the other 9/10 days.

Whats the best / cheapest way to arrange flights / transfers etc as it wont be a normal return flight. I've sorted out the internal flight down to Orlando but its the Atlantic flights im unsure of doing. Do we just book them as individual one way flights? And are there flights to New York from Gatwick as someone told me its Heathrow only.

Also can anyone recommend a good but cheap hotel to stay in? We're not fussed if its only a 3star as its only a bed for the night we're after.

And finally as we are only there for 3 days what would you recommend doing?! She wants Louis Vuitton shops and i want the sightseeing but trying to squeeze it all in will be a push me thinks!

Any advice would be

Chris
