That was the end of Frankie

Had some good times in that car 7k in 5th the night we picked the car up on the motorway on the way home from Scotland being one of them then seeing a copper sat on a bridge as we slowed from that speed to a more normal one

Im sure you'll agree, back then, that was a seriously fast car And yes thats 4th gear on a std ratio box

If i remember correctly, after the 1st set of runs by the RSTs at TOTB that year, Dave was actually the fastest at 147mph ish.... after that i dont know what happened as such, but the engine died / Keith did 153mph and im not sure what you got that year

Those were the days

No, that was an EPIC chargecooler. Infact that only chargecooler that I have ever known to be effective.

Sketch, I think Keith and I were very close top-speed-wise that day, but I did come out on top Keith also upped his boost and melted a piston! Dave was well up there until his went pop. Was a VERY good day though, the 3 of us were having really good friendly rivalry, exactly as it should be. That was when TOTB was a great event for privately owned cars!

Fair play to that car, it made me make almost an exact copy then added 5th injector, different intercooler and a few other bits and bobs. It lasted, mine didn't It was a bench mark in it's day and gave me the inspiration.......... and lost me lots of money

Awesome car I'm running mine very similar at the moment - 13psi and loads of advance and it LOVES to rev (MF2 is disconnected at mo)

My head gasket went that day on the way to totb 1. Dave only did one run, and wasn't really pushing it. Engine had done a billion miles, and Dave REALLY abused it, and i'm sure RW did too.

The battle for top speed was cool, tape here, tape there lol - that was when C&B and Keith had std heads too. Good times.

Frankie's breather system and rev limiter live on in my car

LOL class

It was an ace machine. I drove it hard but serviced it at a SERIOUS level of dedication to make sure it was always perfect.

As everyone said - it dropped a valve at TOTB.

what a laugh we had in that car. I fvcking LOVED it for 5 years

Cheers all

I was in my Peppermint Green 2dr Mk5 Cortina with the cossie turbo lump, just stage 1 still on a T3 and yellows.

0-60mph in 5.64

0-100mph in 13.12

and 146.7mph

I think Steve done 149-150ish on the day.

Yea it was. It made around 225 bhp, with 13psi. Had big head cam and turbo, and LOVED to rev - which is what made it very different from most RST's. 150.1 mph with 225bhp proves that.

For some reason Smit, I have got that one too

I managed to save quite a few of the 'classics' from the RSOC bb before it went offline in 2003.

I saved quite a few classic piccys but suffered Hard Drive failure last year and lost quite a few pictures

Managed to save about 75% of them. Think the original one must have been in the percentage i lost! D'oh!

Think my favourite was a picture with Tim n Matt in a white Fiat van with 'Gimps R Us' on the top, very funny

So what made it able to rev, what was needed? and was it on a T3 or T34 and with what exhaust housing? I think I remember someone saying it had a PE head and cam? and the chargecooler. . how effective was it? was it a 2wd cossie cooler with a jacket round it?
