I brought an A plate, 1L Nova for £200. I finally got it insured for £1500 and my excess was £250!! Go figure? So would that mean I'd have owed my insurance company 50 quid if it had of ever got nicked? lol

I expect there's a belief in the insurance industry that because the car's worth very little, that may be reflected in the driver's attitude, therefore quantifying a far greater risk....

The £100 shitter can do a lot of damage to a Ferarri or someone at the bus stop, even at 30mph. Add a new driver with a low value car and the risk (and premium) soars.
