Argggggghhhhhhhhh - Bloody Sky TV !!!!!!!
Got a message pop up saturday - No Signal Received.... came and went a few times - but it was raining so i gave up and went to bed early with the arse... lol
Was out all day sunday, when i got home it was the same, tried ringing SKY but gave up after being on hold for 30 mins - again tonight when i get home its the same now been on hold for an hour
Anyone got any ideas before i take the lot outside and smash em up with a cricket bat
ive checked the basics like its all plugged in and the dish hasnt moved.....

My mum and dad had the same problem, turns it that since getting sky dig in 98, the poplar trees at the bottom of the garden had grown in line with the dish and satellite. Might be time to hire a chainsaw
My sky box regularly throws a hissy fit and i have to yank it out of the wall Crap amstrad thing, i asked for a panasonic but the bint on the phone said you get what yer given

the sky at my parents place used to stop working everytime it rained and would only start working a few hours or days afterwards
think it needed a new dish and wiring, but dad didnt want to rip up all the laminate
think you need to get the engineer in, but dont let em fob you off, cos if its working the day they turn up, they wont do anything
hope you have more luck than my dad, his is still fooked

We had the same trouble about 18 months ago at Rachel's parents place. Sky blamed the tree's in the garden (funny seeing as the trees have been there for 40 years and hadn't caused a problem for the forst couple of years the Sky was in). Told them to shove it in the end and now have NTL instead.
They're a bunch of fookers to deal with though You'll need some of these " " while they ask you a load of stupid questions like:
Is it plugged in?
Is it connected to the Telly?
Are you on the right channel?

Mine sometimes does this on Sky movies 5,6,7,8,9 and 10
Swearing loudly at it and threating it with a nice cold bath usually works for me. Or I just switch it off and back on again.

i find sometimes when scrolling through channels i get past 1,2,3,4,5, sky one, sky two, then it goes back to BBC1, and i try again and it still wont go past two without going back to BBC1.
Though i do remember a few years ago it had a habit of changing itself to E4 all the time when big brother was on...call me sceptical but that seems a bit strange Surely they cant be that desperate for viewing figures.

i had a similar problem, first they said it was my sky card, took 3 days to get a new one, that didnt work, so they said i needed a new box, 5 days later, they came out, fitted a new box, seemed to fix it, then a couple of days later, it started again, so this time, they said it was the dish, another 4 days later, i get a new dish, been fine since, so i basically got a whole new install before they fixed the problem.

Dish only needs to move 1mm or so and it'll start dropping signal.
Receiver can get damaged, full of water, etc - check signal coax isn't drawing water in - look for signs of corrosion at the joint at either end (and make sure there are no connectors in-line - if it was a DIY or bodged job the signal path can pick up faults very easily).

Our box dropped one of the lines this afternoon so would only record one program every now and again but refused point blank to let me view any channels
In the signal test, it kept telling me line 1 signal strenght was zilch, but the line quality was good...
Line 2 signal strength and quality were both excellent, but couldn't view anything... go figure... Not even capable of switching to the other line itself...
Checked everything and eventually Greg told me to disconnect it. Worked for now and all is back to normal but for how long...
I WANT MY TIVO BACK !!!!!

When I first got my sky+ is would freeze at least once a week and only
reset if the power was removed.
About a year ago, I aquired a UPS and fitted it the to sky box as it has
a hard drive and it has been perfect ever since and never needed to
reset it at all.
The UPS has a power surge protector built in and also, the voltage to the
box is constant.
Also it has a phone line surge protector too.
* UPS = Uninteruptible Power Supply *

sometimes ours drops channels but if you unplug the sky aerial from the box it is fine for another few weeks even though leaving it switched off deosnt do the trick.
have a search around the net theres quite a bit about sky faults.
