That could be a strategy in the ECU dealing with a dodgy sensor. Not sure of anyone in your vicinity, but you could try Harvey Gibbs 01733 576614, Ahmed Bayjoo, Stu@MSD (they've all mapped Pectel ECU's to my knowledge), or finally Pectel themselves, for advice.

EDIT TO ADD:

Depending on ECU, it may also have logged what it thinks is wrong.

if youve got it out the car already, pop up a pic.

it may help people to distinguish what you have got and solve your problem.

could be anything from the ecu itself or maybe even a pectel board inside dependant on what the car has had modified in the past.

Ahmed is your man. Sent him my T2 to be unlocked, checked and a base map put on. Done it all for a very reasonable price .

Still aint got round to fitting it though .

Have you checked all the sensors mate? check all these BEFORE sending the ECU away!

Also there's tests you can do with the Big ECU multiplug (PM someone like SEC's) as this is what i had to do!!

im guessing your not on pectel management by your posts. ie T6 or T2 etc.

if its just a P8 (which a pic may help to prove what your on!?) then people may be able to help you alot better on here!

Is this Pectal an added on thing or standard?? If its standard on the car, could you just not take it to Jennings and let them put it on the computer??
