Its got 100,000 miles on the clock and it still got a standard cvh engine in it. how much of a life spand do you reckon the engine has left?

Depends on how it's been maintained etc - if it's OK then don't worry about it. First car I assume so you won't have it too long anyway. What size engine though ? Definately a CVH as opposed to an OHV ?

The body works good, its a 1.6 and im assuming cvh but not 100% sure. I plan to do away with the standard engine after a year or so.

1.6 is CVH...............but I'd get some insurance quotyes first. First car on a 1.6 cabby will be expensive. I'm 33 and I was quoted Ł600..............London rates admittedly but Reading ain't that far away.

Engines are the easy bit Sally, the rest of the car ie gearbox, suspension, bushes, fluids, radiator, hoses, pumps etc will all be the same age, and not everything will last forever.

Look at the car as a whole package and not just an engine

Oh and buy yourself a tool kit too

and the consumables (hoses etc) if original will be 25 years old now. They're the bits that are likely to cause you grief at the side of the road if the engine / box and body are sound.

I thought it was just a 1.6 cab not a s1 cab the insurance for a s1 cab will be high for you.

strictly speaking their is no such thing as an s1 cab. . it's jus an 'all white or 'SE' escort cab with an rs turbo engine/S1 front recaros
