Depends on how it's been maintained etc - if it's OK then don't worry about it. First car I assume so you won't have it too long anyway. What size engine though ? Definately a CVH as opposed to an OHV ?

1.6 is CVH...............but I'd get some insurance quotyes first. First car on a 1.6 cabby will be expensive. I'm 33 and I was quoted Ł600..............London rates admittedly but Reading ain't that far away.

Engines are the easy bit Sally, the rest of the car ie gearbox, suspension, bushes, fluids, radiator, hoses, pumps etc will all be the same age, and not everything will last forever.
Look at the car as a whole package and not just an engine
Oh and buy yourself a tool kit too
