Strange noise changing down gears ....
Car is not causing any problems, no whining, no clutch slip, but it when I change down a gear from say 3rd to 2nd at say 40-50 it sounds just like a car that has been stood for a long time and the handbrake stuck on a bit.
Just paranoia I suppose, but Ive never had a car with a stage 2 bernie box, quaiffe diff and alcon 6 paddle clutch.
The car has only done 2000 miles, but the box was built in early 2004.
Anyone any ideas as its doing my head in.
Oh its more noticable in reverse for some reason
THANKS!

If so its just the clutch material biting and making a groan.
in my experiance AP clutches are notorious for making a groan noise when changing from 3rd to 2nd gear, my AP organic did this noise but it never was a problem

Mine used to do it as well, changing down and in reverse, that was on a 4 paddle hybrid effort I think.
Although, not really the same ball park, but the escort my mum just sold made exactly the same noise, changing down and reverse and that was only a 1600 zetec si, you can prolong the noise if you slip the clutch while changing, never found out what it was
