Default Initial 3dr ZT dyno results.

Had the Col's 3 door on the dyno the other day. Only revved it to 5200 as we haven't mapped past that and the engine had only done 300 miles. Still at one bar of boost she made 286bhp. The graph was climbing and shouldn't tail off with that GT30 and we have another 2000rpm to go.

She should easily crack 400 bhp at 1.5bar!

Since then I have sorted the fuelling above 5200, but not had a chance to optimise the ign map up there though (Col is on lates and it was my wedding anniversary last w'end so wasn't allowed out to play with cars)).

Next stage is to up the boost to 1.5 bar and when thats mapped we have a second ign map that is selectable on the dash for high octaine fuel to set up.

Maybe not quite the next YB, but it shows the zetecs potential.

Good to see you again, you looked so down in the dumps when we came over to see you. I felt for you getting news like that. I hope you can keep trying and have better luck for the future.

The crank is a checked over standard item. This is the biggest weakness in the whole engine as it is cast not steel as in a cossie. For this reason we have decided to limit rpm to 7200.

Rods are H beam items.

Rod ratio is standard black top.

Sounds a fair match for a YB to me, i dont think many YB's are doing any more than that sort of power at that boost/rpm

I think a lot of the results can be put down to two great components.... The GT30 - spins soooo early and is clearly super efficient (ooh and the cracking manifold it hangs off).... and the CNC head - a work of highly dveloped and tested art.

Which makes me think. Does anybody have the flow figures in (CFM@valvelift) for a stock and modded YB head??

is this the zetec turbo i saw in a white 3 door (i think) at ford fair?
(with the screamer pipe coming out the front spoiler?)

If so, it looked a real work of art!!! that's the engine i need for my mk2 escort.
would you mind giving an idea of what it cost to build? (please PM if you prefer!)

Cheers,

Mark.

Yes, thats the one.

Costs - engine complete, arp studs, gaskets, everything £2450
Turbo and wastegate £1300

If you were only aiming for 300bhp you could probably cut those costs in half.

On top of that you have both manifolds, intercooller, boost pipes. We fabricated all these ourselves so they were fairly cheap.
