i have a 2.0 xr4i i no its no cosworth but there could be as little as 8 in the uk. and mine is up for scrapping. it had no tax and was impounded. i would be great full 4 donations.

I've seen at least 10 in the past few weeks on my travels, all different ones, so thats 12 in total so far

it is a scrapper mine is mint. it has not 1 little bit of rust 51000 miles. it is like brand new. been valued at Ł2500. at a show. And he was the 1 that said the is a minimum of 5 and a max of 10. i will post pics as soon as i get it back.

So the xr4i came in two guises? A 2.0 and a 2.8

And if you cherished it so much..... then why didn't you tax it?

 

The real XR4i was a 2.8 V6 with rear wheel drive and a unique 6-lite bodyshell.

The XR4i from the early 90s was nothing more than a badge-engineered 5-door, a 2.0 4-banger with no real extra equipment - just a blatant attempt by Ford's marketing dept to cash in on an earlier brand, just like the Mk5 Escort Mexico. At least with the Sierra 2000E they attempted to make it special by loading the car with goodies.

As for being down to single figures or the car being worth Ł2500, I have huge reservations on both counts. The XR4i wasn't a huge seller, especially the 2.0 but I'll eat my house if there are less than 10 of them left! I'm afraid it's unlikely to be worth more than a few hundred quid even if it is absolutely mint.

 

Mine was an abosolute minter when I bought it all them years ago, no rust or rot, one owner, and fsh.

I gave a measly sum of Ł700 for it on the day I turned 18 (over 5 years ago, )

Saw one of these down my local car auction a fortnight ago with tax and m.o.t and it made Ł90
