The real XR4i was a 2.8 V6 with rear wheel drive and a unique 6-lite bodyshell.

The XR4i from the early 90s was nothing more than a badge-engineered 5-door, a 2.0 4-banger with no real extra equipment - just a blatant attempt by Ford's marketing dept to cash in on an earlier brand, just like the Mk5 Escort Mexico. At least with the Sierra 2000E they attempted to make it special by loading the car with goodies.

As for being down to single figures or the car being worth £2500, I have huge reservations on both counts. The XR4i wasn't a huge seller, especially the 2.0 but I'll eat my house if there are less than 10 of them left! I'm afraid it's unlikely to be worth more than a few hundred quid even if it is absolutely mint.
