Default Knocked off my bike today!!

Driving down a duel inner-city duel carrigeway in Leeds City Centre. I'm in the outside lane coming up behind a slow travelling Vauxhall Tigra in the inside lane....just as I enter her blind spot area she decides she wants to take a right turn across my lane down a street .

I had zero time to brake and hit the side of her car about 30mph!! I had a helmet/gloves and jeans/jacket on [only nipping to the shop so didn't put my leathers on ]

Anyway I'm fucked! Knees and forearms are both killing me, but worst is the left hand side of my midrift/chest

Knackers

I was supposed to be going to Germany on the bike this Wednesday

Glad you're OK

I've long been of the opinion that you should have to spend 6 months on two wheels before being allowed to drive a car.

Cheers guys...she has admitted liability at tthe scene so I'll claim through her insurance.

Don't give a damn about the bike....its only a machine a can be replaced no problem.

I am in quite a lot of pain [the hospital pain killers are starting to wear off!!]. They wanted to keep me in overnight but I didn't fancy it so I've come home!

Maybe you will wear your leathers next time

Sorry to sound so harsh but you never know when a accident is going to happen.

At least your are ok, more by luck though.

Steve.

To those saying maybe I should have worn my leathers...they wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference ..... my injuries are from the initial impact on the ground [i.e. midrift]. [My knees and elbows are only superficial grazing which admittedly the leathers would have stopped]

The leathers I have don't offer any real impact protection in that area so wouldn't have helped. My jeans or top didn't tear right through....the helmet saved my life though as I did wack it with some force and the gloves also saved my hands!

Pics of the car/scene:

Anyone with any experiance with bikes offer any opinion on getting it repaired? Do you think its a right off??

Damaged:

- Wing Mirror
- Front Dicky
- Rear Dicky
- N/S headlight
- Upper and lower fairing [N/S]
- Engine Casing
- N/S foot rest hanger
- Rear fairing needs painting
- Rear grab handrail [N/S]
- Rear hugger
- And the rear sub-frame appears bent [the seat/tail is no longer in line with the rear wheel]
- Rear wheel axle/nut/cotter pin

Its worth about £2500

I would guess write off. I had similar on my first bike and they wrote it off. Fairings are expensive
Mine was worth similar amount maybe less. They gave me £2k and the bike which i sold for £700 to a breakers. Sorted
