Ignition Amplifier earth
I having problems every month or 2 with the ignition amplifier earth....
The rev counter goes all mad n it misfires like a bastid
but when i take the earth off the inlet manifold i use a bit of wet n dry on the connections it goes away
but it returns within 7/8 weeks
just wondering if it is earthed on the Inlet manifold for a reason???
theres a few better places i can think of in the engine bay just wondering if i could move it.
Any ideas?

Have you checked the earth connections from the body to the engine? If they're loose then it'll cause all the others that come off the engine onto summat else to play up.

Smit, also check the 3 large connectors on the bulkhead above the engine, especially the righthand one with the larger wires in.
I've earthed my ignition amplifier local to the amp connector itself - solder a short length of suitable wire to the brown wire in the 7-pin amplifier connector, fit a suitable ring tag and connect to the amplifier heatsink under one of the fixing screws, or better still take it directly to the battery neg. post.
I've also made up an additional stout earth cable (at least as big as the earth cable that terminates at the front of the battery tray) connected between battery neg. post and the loom earth connections on the inlet plenum, this helped a lot.
