what pinking all about?


set off in cossie this moring (only got it up last nite)

and when on full boost it was cutting/holding back and was jerky

is that pinking?

didn't do with yesterday or on test drive, whats the cause?

Could be overboosting what boost is it running & what spec? i.e injectors & chip....

not too sure on the spec

it peaks at 15psi then drops down to 10psi

the guy said it was stage 1

Check the plugs and gap dave,even better get a set of 071's from fords finis code 1120834 and gap them to 0.65mm.

i've got some of those spare at home

bought em for the turbo but ended up putting c59c's in

those 071s ok for cossies?

Pinking is when you get a labouring kinda sound when you put strain on the engine, i.e going up hill and putting your foot down, thats what i thought it was anyway my old clio rsi used to do it abit, the escort has never done it though

071s' are good for cossies yep. Make sure that you gap them properly tho

im over in keighley so not too far from you

these 071's have they changed the name or part no. as i ordered a set from fordpartsuk.co.uk (or whatever they're called)

n they send me some other ford jobbies saying they are the same just ford changed the code on them or summat

also cheers for the answers on pinking, what causes it?

Get your plugs from Stu, I personally reccomend Denso IK31 Irridium - you won't break one of these babies

pinking or det can be caused by a few things - usually incorrect ignition timing or poor fuel grade

put optimax in it, thats the first thing id try

phone the guy you bought it off and ask him if he has had similar probs in the past, he might be able to point you in the right direction
